    3. Hello I am trying to gather information on the descendants of my GGG Grandparents Johan Joseph and Anna Sophia Wedesweiler. They arrived in Sydney in 1855. They appear to have lived in the Camden area after arriving. I have most of the births, deaths and marriage dates, but I would love to find out some more detailed information. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards Karen

    3. I have just come across your request for photos and/or information My grandparents William John and Phoebe Ruth Newing moved to Merrylands Road (then opposite the tile factory) now opposite ?Central Gardens, sometime soon after 1912. Like many others in the area they had a small poultry farm. They regularly attended St Matthew's Church, then in Arcadia Street. Other relatives were the Charnock family that lived in Arcadia Street and the Kitcheners in Merrylands Road. My mother attended Greystanes School before attending Parramatta High School. I am about to rush off so can't spend any more time writing to you at the moment but I do have a few photos relating to the time and place. (Maybe 5 or 6) I attended Merrylands school for six months during the war while my father was away fighting. If I can ffer any assistance or if you are interested in the photos - please let me know Hoping to hear from you Pam On Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at 08:46 AM, Dorothy Warwick wrote: > Looking for photos or stories of people/families/places of the > Prospect & > Sherwood (now Holroyd since 1872) area of western Sydney or maybe > photos of > old family homes, shops or businesses from days gone by. > > This area covers the suburbs of Merrylands, Guildford, Westmead, > Wentworthville, Greystanes, Mays Hill, Prospect Hill, Girraween, > Toongabbie, > Pendle Hill, Smithfield & Yennora. > > Holroyd Local History Research > [email protected] > > > ==== AUS-NSW-SURNAMES Mailing List ==== > Feel Free to offer your surname searches to the list at any time for > updates. >

    3. Madalyn, NSW has a probate index to around 1986. If James left a will, his name would be on this index, which is on microfiche and available at many fam hist places in Oz - but don't know if anyone in UK has them. Our State Records holds the original "deceased estate" files for all those listed. They also have "probate packets" (so far released up to about 1940) which generally contain a copy of the will. All this can be viewed free and photocopied at reasonable cost. I could check the index for you - but not for a couple of weeks. 3. Hi Listers, Can anyone help a newbie to Australian research please? I have a death cert. ref. for a James John FIFOOT, Miner, who died 12 july 1921 in Forbes Municipality, NSW. aged 87 years. Is this the same person as "my" James, born in Bristol, England 1835 who became a Mariner and disappears from Bristol area c.1860's - family legend has it he went to Australia. In Greville's P.O. directory for 1872 there is a James J. FIFOOT listed as a Miner in Lumpy Swamp, Forrest Reefs (Bathhurst Area, NSW). Are these men one and the same? Unfortunately no parents names are listed on the death cert. Could sks advise how to check for a Will for James - is anyone interested in the FIFOOT surname? Most grateful for any assistance.
