----- Original Message ----- From: Joy Asghar To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, May 13, 2004 7:23 PM Subject: hughes update Further to my recent posting of Robert NEWTON ( his name on the ships list Iberia 1889). Have found his birth registered as Robert HUGHES born 14th April 1885, father Robert Hughes a hairdresser mother Sarah Ann GENDERS. Robert a carpenter of Annandale married Ruby TREW 23rd Jan 1909 at hunter Baillie Memorial church Annandale. Ruby's parents were John Kendal TREW and Sophia GRENENGER. Witnesses to this marriage were Alfred Reginald TREW and Kittie Longwall TREW. If anyone has the nsw birth cd I would be very grateful if someone could look up any children of the marriage. The only other information I have is that Robert was still alive in 1945. Can anyone connect to this family? Kind regards joy
Hi Carole Have you searched rootsweb? There are at least four databases on the Rootsweb World Connect with him in them. To narrow your search enter 1850 as the death date and you will see the four databases with info. > Does any one have the family history of William Lawson explorer > 1774/1850, thanks Carole > BFN OOROO Michelle - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [email protected]

Dear Carol, Please excuse my using your e-mail, but I can see this is the only way I may probably get off this list. I keep receiving mail from AUS-NSW-SURNAMES and have tried and tried to unsubscribe. They say from their computer that I am not on the list, if that is so how come I have received 3 from them this morning and one other and that is only today. Once again Carol my apologies for using you like this. Joy, Yes there are - NSW probate indexes (available on fiche) go to around 1985 - available at many research centres in Australia but of course that won't help you in UK, and they aren't on-line. However, they are only helpful if someone left an estate of some description to have probate granted on. Unless someone else can get to them first, I can check them for you on Tuesday. If you would like to know what information is in the death notices you found in the Ryerson index, I may be able to check that later in the week - or perhaps next week. Dear Lorraine, Perhaps you could contact some of the Bible Colleges in Melbourne for the info you require. C. O. B. sounds like the Church of Christ College of the Bible. Try their email address :[email protected] I know the early students had to go to America for their studies and the Melbourne College may have some information if he came back and preached here in Australia. Julie, Have seen this posting this morning, I was wondering if you have a BEATRICE PALLIER marrying 1912 to a Thomas Andrew Page, they had (3) children Thomas Percy 1913, Irene Alma and another child died as an infant. The parents of Thomas Andrew Page are Peter John Page/ Esther Stockdale. Jenelle. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2003 3:31 AM Subject: Re: [A-NSW-S] THORNTON-PALLIER-WOODS-AVERY-HUMPHRIES-and more... > I don't know if you saw my recent posting Tony, but I'm looking for a Sophia Woods. My grandfather had indicated that was his mother's name on his marriage certificate. He was named James William Millen/Miller, so your entry was of interest. There were two Sophia Wood born in 1864 - one with parents reflected as Sophia and William Wood and the other Sarah and William Wood. This is the brick wall on my family tree, as my grandfather stated he was born in Sydney in 1882 to James and Sophia Millen nee Woods and no such birth or marriage shows up on the BMD indexes. Just thought it was worth checking with you. > > Cheers! > Julie Fox > San Diego, California > > > > ==== AUS-NSW-SURNAMES Mailing List ==== > Comments and suggestions about the list should be addressed to the Administrator at [email protected] > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
Hi everyone Trying to find my Newton family hope someone can connect. Sarah Ann Newton born 1890 at Lithgow married Harold Philip Evans at the Methodist Church Stanmore in 1916. A son Rodney Harold Evans was born in 1917, he married Mary Patricia LAWSON at Rockdale. On the Ryerson index I have found Harold Philip Evans died 26 Feb 1976 aged 83, late of Burwood. Sarah Evans 23 Oct 1974 aged 80 years, late of Padstow. I'm not 100% sure if this is Sarah Ann but the dates are slightly incorrect. now for the questions again, sorry!! Are there any resources available for searching deaths after 1945? kind regards joy
Hi Everyone I have received a death transcription for Sarah Ann Newton, prev HUGHES nee GENDERS who died 22nd June 1945. The place of death was 157 Parramatta Road Annandale. Her daughter Daisy Hughes of the same address registered her death. Her cremation was at Rookdale crematorium and the funeral directors were J J Crockett & co Pty. ltd. Now for the questions, i hope someone on this list can help. I would like to know if there are any resources available such as business directories for the address for 1945? Does anyone know if the house still exists? Would the crematorium have further information or the funeral directors? Sarah's children from her marriage to Robert Hughes are listed as Daisy aged 64, Lily aged 63, Coronella 61 years (married Alfred J Campey in 1908 at Sydney). A son Robert aged 59 but on the shipping records he is listed as Robert NEWTON (which is a bit of a puzzle). Hope someone can help kind regards joy England
