Hi List, Is anyone researching Henry J. PARKES who married Rose/Rosanna ROBERTS in 1901 in Sydney? She is believed to have already had 3 children to him - Ruby in 1887, Viola in 1890 and Stanley in 1893. Viola is thought to have been known as Queenie, married James LEAHY in 1907 and died in 1908. Henry may have been the son of Frederic and Margaret PARKES, born 1862, and may have died in 1917. I am particularly interested in Rose, but can find no re-marriage or death for her - she was born in 1866. Hi All, I saw this notice in today's paper. I am not quite sure if you know about it or not. LONDON, PA-------An online service which lets people search for records of friends and relatives who died during the two world wars was launched yesterday. The website, www.1837online.com contains records of British Forces who fell during Battle in the World War 1, the World War 11 and the Boer War. They contain information for every rank in the British Army, Navy and RAF, and include Indian and South African regiments who fought for Britain. Cheers, Rose.
Hi List, I have misplaced information I had on a marriage between Kyran DOLAN and Elizabeth L. LEONARD? Possibly, Murwillumbah and in the 1930/1940s. Any assistance/information would be appreciated! Regards, Christine

Hello all, I would like to contact anyone researching Barrett in Temora & Cootamundra. Best wishes, Maree
Is anyone doing the Balcombe or Abel families of early NSW ? Many thanks , Lynn 1. Was Mrs Balcombe Jane Cranston, or Jane Byng, and was she Emma Jane. Wm is listed in family records as married Jane Cranston July 1799, hard to read, could be 20, 26 or 29th; Jane also known as Emma Jane in records. However we have an IGI record of marriage of William Balcombe to Jane Byng 26 July 1799 St Mary-St, Marylebone, St Marylebone, London, And also a Jane Balcombe Christening, 6 July 1800, parents Wm & Jane, St. Marylebone, Saint Mary, Marylebone St, London (family records show Jane born 1800). As both are listed as Marylebone it sounds like the same family. (Didn't find a Christening of Lucia Elizabeth (Betsy), born 1802, or a reference to a Jane Cranston, or Emma Jane Cranston of relevance). 2. Can we find when Betsy Abell went back to London the 2nd time - probably before 1844 when her Recollections of Napoleon was published in London Did mother Jane Emma Balcombe go back to London with Betsy? The family tree does not list birth or death date for Jane Emma and there is no listing in NSW BDM of her death. Can we find Betsy Abell, daughter Elizabeth Abell, probably born about 1822, and mother Jane Emma Balcombe, in the 1841 and 1851 census for London? Betsy said to have died 29 June 1871, age 69. living at 43 Park St Grosvenor Square.

You may have hit on something there, Robin. That same theory probably also explains why New Zealanders pronounce an 'I' as a 'U" - the two letters are adjacent on a keyboard, and God made a typing error when he was designing the Kiwis. Regards Reid
Hi All, While the tip about misplaced names is a valid one, I had a look at the file I was referring to, and found that the name was in fact GHREEN, along with GHENT, so look for mispelling of the second letter as well. A while back, I was transcribing BMD's, and doing surnames starting with H. I came across a few HGREEN's, and wondered what accent would put a H in front of Green. Yesterday, the penny dropped. Not an accent but a typing error, the H being next to the G on a keyboard. So if you can't find your ancestors under their starting Initial in records that were typed, have a look under the letter on either side of it on the keyboard, with and/or without the starting initial. eg. HGREEN, HREEN, FGREEN, or FREEN. and I guess if you still can't find it, have a look under the letters above and below your starting initial. We have so many weird surnames, who's to say what is or isn't a typo. Regards ..· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ Robin -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´* Talk is cheap because supply exceeds demand.
