Hello List I have been asked by Janet Reake's Genealogy to forward this message on to the Lists for Clarification, I apologise for any inconvenience I have caused. I thought I posted this same message to the lists this morning, but wasn't sure if it got thru, so thought I would send again. We have just been made aware of the messages below that were posted to mailing lists and would greatly appreciate you posting the following clarification : MESSAGE BEGINS The late Janet Reakes created a physical site called Australia's Immigration Wall of Honour in Hervey Bay many years ago, however the plaques were removed to storage and no new ones have been added for about 7 years. Ah, but Rob, The early church records (pre 1856) are not birth/death records, they are baptism/burial records, so they are "registered" in the church. Civil registration (of birth and death and also of course marriage) didn't begin in NSW until 1856. So the early church record codes related to baptism, marriage and burial. Hi List, Forget my comment about there not being a link at the bottom of birth/death results for Church codes. There wouldn't be as people don't have their birth or death registered in a Church do they!!!!. It was a senior moment so bear with me:) Rob Dubbo
Hi Hayley, JC district is Presbyterian, Wollongong. PG is Illawarra District Kiama. If you do a search on the marriage index there is a link at the bottom left corner titled View List of Early Church Record Codes. Pressing that will bring down a drop down box with all the codes and which District/Church they relate to.I assume that they are the same for births/deaths. Strange there is no link at the bottom of the latters search results. Hello, Looking for information on Winifred DILLON born Casino 1863 married William O'HARA 1892 Bungendore. Winifred died 1943 Wollongong. Regards Robyn
HAT-History of Australian Theatre www.hat-archive.com HAT contains a 14400 entry database of names of people who were associated with the Australian Theatre between the years 1850-1960. If you had an ancestor in the theatre you may find them here. HAT also has has articles, pictures links and suggestions for further research. Greetings, I have updated the database to 14400. Many of the names I have added come from the late 19th century. Mr Ian Foster has kindly written a biography of his mother Elva Blair, complete with photographs to the site. It's certainly worth a read.Available from the articles page. I have added a page on The Merry Widow production in Australia in 1908. I was fortunate to find a set of photos of this production, the first production of the operetta in Australia. I have also added a page of photos. I am currently moving house, so will be out of contact for a week or so. I do endeavour to reply to all emails, so if you have a question, feel free to email or to post on the messageboard. Cheers to everyone and good luck with your research -Leann HAT- History of Australian Theatre www.hat-archive.com

Hi Hayley, You may have sorted these codes out by now but just in case... There is a code box at the bottom of the search results in early MARRIAGE record sites e.g. View list of Early Church Record Codes. For an example try this search: Groom's surname : ROSE Bride's surname : CROSS Years to be searched: 1850-1860 Although the record of this marriage doesn't include a code eg, JC, you will find the code box underneath. Hope this helps Jann :) -----Original Message----- From: Hayley [mailto:hales@e-wire.net.au] Sent: Friday, 5 May 2006 12:20 AM To: AUS-NSW-SURNAMES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Off topic Hi There. Could anyone please offer advice (or weblinks) about how to track down details about a suspicious death in the 1950's. The death transcript states that the result of death was poisoning and that there was a magisterial inquiry held at Sydney on he 18th October - P Raschke the city coroner. I'm not that knowledgeable of the legal industry and not really sure what the next step might be. I'm also in Perth, so anything web based would be great. In appreciation, Alison Gregory
