Hi Marie He hasnt been claimed ? http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts > I have had this info for many years - even wrote to Goulburn Historical Soc., thinking Argyle was there. It is ,Goulburns in the Co of Argyle Then to my absolute amazement I have found that Bloomfield estate included the farm near Bowral where I spent the first sixteen years of my life!! I had no idea that >convicts >had even been in the area, Were there from the early days much less working on the family farm. Now, I am looking for any reference at all to Warry. IS there a >list of convicts assigned to Riley??, At the back of the 1837 Muster there is quite a list of people who had convicts assigned to them any other convict records of the >district?? The Colonial Secretaries correspondence has been indexed to 1853 . Its on line up to 1825 . After thats is on fiche only > Warry was sentenced to 2 years at Moreton Bay, by the bench at Goulburn Plains in 1829 for "concealing information against bushrangers. Goulburn Historical Soc was interested as this was the earliest ref they had for bushrangers in the district. In 1833 a Henry "Warre" is in Sydney gaol for larceny . Is this my Henry?? My main query is to his whereabouts in the years from 1833 to 1856. Was he in gaol all of that time? Did he return to the Bowral area? You would need to do some sleuthing via NSW State Records Incidentally convicts normal had the name of the transport they came on as part of their name so he was Henry WARRE , Speke (11 ) He hailed from Bristol and was 19 yo when he came here . There is also a Margaret WARRE from Somerset ( virtually same place ) who arrived on ther Surry 1(10) in 1840 ........Brother & sister ?? > > Warry later finished up as "overseer" Kangaroo valley station. Can find no record of marriage to Mary Jane McCarthy supposedly 1 Jan 1856 -conveniently first day of >compulsory registration! Thought that was 1 Mar 1856 ?? Bye MargM Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia
