Hi Everyone I am looking for information about the Batstone family and Darke family of Albury. John Batstone and Hannah Darke married in 1880. I have no idea when or how John arrived in Albury but he was born in Devon. I also dont know how long Hannah's family had been in the area. The family stories say that they owned a large department store in town and that Hannah's father may have been a counciller. John died in 1899 and Hannah remarried to a Timothy Horan. I believe that while John was alive they lived in a house called Mandalay and that when Hannah married Timothy they lived in a house called Naroh (HOran backwards) Hannah may have been a nurse. I would love to hear from anyone who may know something about either of these families. Also could anyone tell me if there are any directories for Albury for this time.
