    1. Re: BARRETT & GRANT of Reidsdale near Braidwood
    2. Wade Cox
    3. I was interested to read this post. My great great grand father James Pender was married at Braidwood in 1833 to Mary Ann Stewart/Stuart and his son William was born at Inverary in 1834. His brother James was born at Inverary in 1834/5 and baptised by John Vincent of Sutton Forest in 1836. They moved to Ulladulla in 1836. I believe this was the first marriage in the Braidwood district but the records were not properly kept. Certainly the baptisms and later docs attest to the fact that the marriage was in 1833 even though the records are incomplete. I recently found out from Christine Wright that it was the Reids that owned Inverary at the time. In those days the road to Braidwood came in from the Bungonia area near Marulan and went in along the Durran Durra Creek. Inverary was a strategic point in that route. Norman Whitfield of Braidwood knows the road and the exact place of the grave of the drover killed by the Durran Durra.
