Hello Everyone. I am working my way through the Bega DEATH indexes published by the Bega Valley Genealogy Society, and frequently encounter the place of death of a person as either "The Settlement" or "Labour Settlement", BEGA. These deaths seem to have occurred between around 1898 to 1914. Is there a Bega local in the group who might be able to explain exactly what this settlement was (I am assuming that both titles refer to the same place); and by what name the locality might be known today? Grateful for any insights. Thanks in advance. Ray in Sydney.
