G'day Colin Thomas appeared in the 1841 census in Ventonleague Cornwall. He was a blacksmith. He married [1] 1830 Mary Brown who bore him Thomas 1833 John 1834 & Emily 1835.Thomas appears to have died in infancy. Mary also died early & he remarried Elizabeth Martin 28/9/1844 They had one son Thomas Aron [sic] 11/1/1847. Thomas with his second wife & 3 children migrated on the Julindu from Plymouth 28/12/1848 arriving Port Jackson 4/4/1849. The family settled at Cathcart near Bombala where he was a farmer at the time of his death 28/4/1882. Emily married into the Geraghty family who lived in the district. Thomas Aron married Catherine Mary Costello [ of unknown parentage] 4/11/1884 in Tumut where my wife's grandfather Thomas William Frederick Gilbert was born 9/9/1885. He bought a business in Young which is still in the family. John Gilbert was born in Phillack, 1834, as was Emily in 1835. What happened to John after arriving in Australia aged 15 I cannot establish.
