Hi there I have just found Cathy Dunn's document on Percy Hale Sheaffe via Greville's Post Office Directory 1872 for Milton. I am interested in this man as an ancestor I am researching - Louisa Winter - was apprenticed to him around 1868 but then disappears. I have found a possible marriage for Louisa, birth of a child and then a possible death for Louisa but will need to get the transcriptions to check. In the meantime if anyone has come across Louisa or the Sheaffe family please contact me off list. >From the Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children - Registers of Inmates June 1852-1915 (7/3796 SRNSW reel 1865) I have the following information: 9 Nov 1859 Louisa and Sarah Winter aged 7 and 4 years, Protestants, were admitted to the Destitute Children's Asylum Randwick. According to the records they were "deserted by father, mother a worthless character. Sisters to Geo Winter page 202 who was subsequently received." 30 Dec 1868 Louisa Winter aged 13 (appears to be incorrect as admission record indicates she would have been 16) was apprenticed to Mrs Stenhouse, returned to the Destitute Children's Asylum, Randwick and then reapprenticed to Mr PH Sheaffe at Milton. cheers Jenny Bruny Island TAS
