    3. The Shoalhaven Telegraph, Friday, January 4, 1907 page 12 Death of Mr. W. C. BroWn [sic] The old saying that "In the midst of life we are in death" had a striking exemplification in the case of Mr. Waldron C. BROWN, of Plunkett-street, Nowra, who expired very suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The deceased gentleman was apparently in his usual state of health on New Year's Day, had been about as was his wont, and retired to rest about his usual hour. Between 1 and 2 o'clock in the morning Mrs. BROWN was awakened by hearing a guttural sound from her husband and thinking he was troubled with dreams asked him what was the matter. Receiving no reply she called her son James, who on entering the room found his father in a state of collapse. He at once sought medical aid, but on the arrival of Dr. HULL it was found that life was extinct. It is needless to say that the awfully sudden end was a great shock to the deceased's wife and family, as it was to the community, when it became known. The late Mr. BROWN was a native of Dorsetshire, England, but came to New South Wales with his father, the late Mr. Bernard BROWN, when only four years of age. They came to Shoalhaven at once, where Bernard BROWN acted for many years as chief constable, and later on as auctioneer, taking at the same time an active part in municipal and public affairs. Mr. W. C. BROWN spent the whole of his life in this district, being engaged largely in the timber industry, carrying on the sawmill on the Milton Road near Nowra with a large measure of success, until he disposed of the business a short time back to Mr. R. MISON. He also carried on for many years in Plunkett-street an undertaking business, and was also interested with his sons in farming pursuits. The deceased gentleman, who was 62 years of age, leaves a widow and seven children, who have the deepest sympathy of the whole community in their sad bereavement. The funeral was largely attended, the interment taking place at the Worrigee cemetery. Rev. R. INGLIS, M.A., officiated, and the Masonic burial service was also conducted at the grave.
