My understanding of the mix & make up of the Uniting Church as it was formed was that yes, ALL the Methodists became Uniting. The Congregationalists did NOT all join the Uniting Church - as some proof of this there are still a few remaining Congregational Churches in existence & active - there are also some Congregationalist Aged Care Facilities - Self Care, Hostel & Nursing homes, run, I understand, by Congregationalist Administration. Likewise, the Presbyterians - not all became Uniting and there are certainly still many Presbyterian Churches & aged care facilities run by Presbyterians. Not, that this proves whether or not the now Uniting Church in Main St. in Cowra was the old Methodist Church in 1955 - someone old enough & "Cowra local".... or, again, Daryl Lightfoot will have to answer that one. I have ONLY a layman's understanding, but if it is correct, my memory is that when the Uniting Church was formed, it comprised ALL of the Methodists, ALL of the Congregationalists, and Most or Many of the Presbyterians (with their remainder staying separate). Here is the URL for the Uniting Church's archives. http://nsw.uca.org.au/archives.htm Their archivist Daryl Lightfoot used to be on some of my other aussie lists, so he is VERY familiar with use of his records for genealogy purposes. I expect that he would be your best first port of call.
