Hello I am researching Henry Hawkins and Elizabeth Shannon. Henry was a convict who arrived on the "England 3" in 1835. He was assigned to John Coghill and later married Ellen Buckley in 1855, she died in 1857. Henry then married Elizabeth in 1858. I know nothing else about Elizabeth, how she arrived in the colony, what was she doing in the Braidwood area and when she died. Could she have been an Irish Orphan? On the Australisian Genealogical Computer Index (AGCI) there is a burial of an Elizabeth Hawkins in 1905 at Braidwood but this death is not on the NSW BDM's. Hoping someone can give me a few clues on Elizabeth. With thanks Chris Randall

Hello Lyn Thank you for your help but unfortunately Louisa E Hawkins is not mine. She was only 3 years old when she died. The information you found on Henry Hawkins and Elizabeth Shannon on the Monaro Pioneers web site was supplied by me. I have put it there in the hope other descendants of this family will contact me. There is almost no extra information on their marriage certificate, Elizabeth stated that she was a spinster and her usual residence was Braidwood and on her children's birth certificates she stated she was born in London. I have not been able to establish how she came into the country either. Thank you again Chris Randall lmeehan@dodo.com.au wrote: > Hi again Chris, > > A quick google brought up this (lucky you!) > > In Monaro Pioneers - Cooma based thingy site..... > > descendants of Henry Hawkins & Elizabeth Shannon (born 1834 London). > > http://www.cooma.nsw.gov.au/monaropioneers/hawkins-h.htm > > regards, Lyn M > > P.S.
