Hello again everyone. Just a further note for those of you who might not be aware of it. The Bega Valley Genealogy Society is an extremely efficient and hard-working group of people. They welcome memberships from us at any time. You should be able to find a basic web-site for them on google. Their volunteer researcher: Ms Pat RAYMOND is wonderful ! The society will conduct research in their files for very reasonable fees. Now, here is the main thing which I wanted to say about this superb organisation: they have compiled SURNAME indexes, from the widest variety of sources -- including all local histories etc. -- . If you are a member and attend at their office, you can view these indexes, and make photocopies from them. If you are not a member I think that for a reasonable fee they will photocopy them and post out to you. BUT as this is ongoing work, they are now in SEVERAL volumes; so you will possibly have one or two dozen pages of indexed surnames to be photocopied -- depending upon the surname, etc. I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful work which these people do; so if anyone has research interests in the Far South Coast (and even in some cases up into the Monaro), you can find references here, which it might otherwise take years to uncover. Good luck to each of you in your ongoing researches. Ray.
