    3. 1841 Census District 25, Dean St, Hoxton Old Town, St Leonards Shoreditch, London Hundred of Ossulstone (Tower Division): William Peircy, 32, watch m, not born in county William Peircy, 12, born in county George Peircy, 9, not born in county Sarah [looks like surname Piedo but writing is hard to read & is prob Peircy], 31, born in county Mark ditto, 6, born in county Robert ditto, 4, born in county Louisa ditto, 5 months, born in county/ John Stewardson, 19, watch m, born in county Maria Moss, 27, F.S., born in county// 1851 Census, 5 Bridport Place N.N. Ramsden Richard Jackson, 15, errand boy, born St Lukes Shoreditch Mary Ann Jackson, 19, servant, born Gravesend Kent Matilda Palmer, dau, unm, 24, Tambour Worker, born Kingsland // William Piercey m. 1828 St Leonards Shoreditch to Sarah Orford (source Pallot's Marriage Index). I found a George Piercy in the 1861 census for Hoxton Old Town: George bc 1832 St Lukes, tin plate worker, and his wife Fanny. I found a Robert Piercy, unmarried, aged 24, paper maker, in the 1861 Census for West London North, in the Field Lane Night Refuge Dormitory for the Homeless. I cannot find a Mark Piercy (or variations) in the 1861 census that fits in with having been born c. 1835 in Shoreditch. (I've even tried searching under just firstname Mark and no surname and then paging through the results). I seems that the name 'Mark Noble Piercy' was not uncommon (from what I can see in both Ancestry.co.uk and the IGI. A death was registered for a William Piercy Oct-Dec quarter of 1843, district of St Martin in the Fields, Mdx, volume 1, page 125. A death was registered for a William Piercy Jan-Mar quarter of 1847 district of Shoreditch, London, Mdx, volume 2 page 340. A death was reg for William Piercy Jul-Sep quarter of 1849, district of Shoreditch, London, Mdx, volume 2 page 598. Any one of these could be the William from the 1841 census. A death was registered for a Sarah Piercy Apr-Jun quarter of 1876, aged 69, district Strand (1837-1913), London, Middlesex, Volume 1b, page 362, which may be the Sarah Piercy from the census but I have not been able to locate Sarah in the 1861 or 1871 censuses. There is, however, a death reg for a Sarah Piercy Oct-Dec quarter of 1853, Strand (1837-1913, London, Mdx, volume 1b page 266. This could explain why I cannot find her in the 1861 census.
