Viv, >Frederick John O'BRIEN, son of Frederick William and K O'Brien was born >at NOWRA. I'll claim him, as one of my Gerringong lads. Although obviously not buried there (KIA France 1916), Freddy is recorded on the family grave in Gerringong Cem, along with his older brother Ossie and his mother Kezia. His death is reported in the "Kiama Independent" of 16SEP1916, p2, col3. Don't know what happened to Frederick William - he was not there in the 1903 census, where Kezia is listed as the Postmistress. The only listing I have for him is the 1890-91 electoral roll (resident of Gerringong), and there is a death registration for a Frederick W O'BRIEN 1890/742 in Sydney, so this could be him. There was also another, eldest, brother called Cecil, but I don't know what happened to him. Kezia died 09MAY1942, so a look at the KI just after then might give you an obit which might answer some of these questions.
