    3. Hi all, Jim and Dominique "Harmony" at Picton was the name of Colonel Goodlet's country home situated half way between Picton and Thirlmere. He developed on the property a home for consumptives. (People with TB.) This opened in the late 1880s. It was and still is called Queen Victoria Hospital but now run by the State Govt as a geriatric hospital and looks like being taken over by the Uniting Church. It is part of the South Western Area Health Service. A lot of its records still survive and it may be worth phoning them on 02 4629 1200. Or write to QV Hospital Thirlmere Way Picton 2571. Picton was considered a good climate for consumptives and people came from all over to QV. Therefore one couldn't say Priscilla was staying with rellies here. She may well have been sent from say, Sydney and the only way to find more is if her admittance records survive. A good clue would be if the informant was a hospital employee or a rellie. If a rellie then they would have been close enough to do it. Good luck Regards Liz Vincent - at Historic Picton NSW Australia lizv@fastlink.com.au ---------- > From: Jim Wilson & Dominique Young <domnjim@cybernet.co.nz> > To: AUS-NSW-SE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Fw: Priscilla MacKenzie, died Picton > Date: Sunday, 24 January 1999 20:19 > > > - > > > >Priscilla MacKenzie, born 1864 Bonhill, Dunbartonshire, died 1890 at the > age > >of 25 of consumption at The Home, Harmony and is buried at Upper Picton. > Her > >death certificate records that she had been in NSW for 15 years, which I > >have interpreted as meaning that she was sent to Australia in 1875 as a 10 > >year old following the death of her mother.
