    3. Re my posting of 15/1/1999: In searching through the 7 January 1911 issue of the Ulladulla and Milton Times [NSW], I located this gem! Thought I would share it with you. "Mr. W. L. Garrard, of Kings School (Parramatta) who has been appointed to the Townsville Grammar School, proposes to walk to his job. He will take the coast track, probably striking up to Grafton from Newscastle, thence through Lismore and on to Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads." I wonder did he have any idea how far Townsville was from the Queensland / NSW border!!!! Courtesy of Bronwyn Smalley of the North Queensland list, I thought you might like to know the fate of W. L. GARRARD. "The History of Townsville Grammar School states that at the end of the year (1911) "Mr W L Garrard, BA was appointed to the Staff" A Mr A Clunes Ross, a Master from Sydney's Church of England Grammar was appointed Second Master to the school, but the head master had found "because of a dearth of satisfactory applicants .. impossible throughout the year to fill the senior position." Only the best for Townsville Grammar .... I went to St. Patrick's! PS. I wonder what connection W. L. GARRARD had with the Milton / Ulladulla area?
