    3. Hi John, >>Would anyone be able to tell me if Dapto in the 1830s was part of >>the Windsor District. --------snip----------------- >Almost certainly not. I don't have a map of the original Nineteen Counties to check, but without much doubt Liverpool (at least) would be between >Windsor and the Illawarra. -------snip------------------ I tend to agree with the overwhelming response I've received, I've got the wrong man. Unless I can locate some reference to the John McDermott in Windsor being sent to Dapto. ------snip-------------------- John McDermott is mentioned in the Larkin book, Ireland to Illawarra as being a convict worker on the property. ------snip------------------- >Do you have any details on the location of Galway Farm? I have a copy of "Nineteenth Century Dapto" published by the Illawarra HS in 1976 which lists the pre-1840 grants, and there is no mention of either Galway Farm or Peter Larkin. -----snip------------------- I don't have very much information on the Larkin property Galway Farm. When I was in Nowra last month I visited the library and located a book titled History Of The Web Family by Bessie Fackender. I was surprised to read that a Web family member had married a granddaughter of Peter Larkin. According to the book, in 1835 Peter Larkin applied for a land purchase of 164 acres at Dapto, the purchase price being £41. The land later became "Galway Farm". Unfortunately I don't know exactly where in Dapto Galway Farm was located, but I would love to know. Best wishes, Terri BRYAN bryan@nor.com.au Yamba NSW Australia
