A little additional information. There was a John McDermott in the Illawarra during the 1840s, I don't know about the 1830s but it is possible. He married Margaret O'Neill in 1841 and had children in Wollongong and Jamberoo between 1844 and 1853. (Illawarra Pioneers pre 1920) Peter Larkin b c1787 Galway, arrived Sydney 1821, convict per John Barry. Sentenced to life for sedition and burglary. Granted a conditional pardon 23 September 1834. Received a grant of land in 1836 which became the nucleus of Galway Farm.
