Hello there! I trust you are having a very pleasant few days of Christmas Cheer! I have made some progress in my search for details of the WOODHOUSE family who settled on a property at Gunning NSW c. 1835. Hopefully this additional information may assist in making connections with descendants. Some early Grants by Purchase listings name an Elizabeth WOODHOUSE of Campbelltown as being granted by purchase, on 23 August 1835, 1030 acres, Portion 6, Parish of Garway, County of King. An earlier Grant by Purchase had been made to G. M. WOODHOUSE on 26 July 1834, 500 acres, Portion 7, Parish of Garway, County of King. These blocks are on the Lachlan River and adjoin the property I am researching named "Baltinglass" which was taken up by Samuel CLAYTON of Sydney on 15 January 1839. Baltinglass subsequently passed to Samuel CLAYTONS son, Benjamin CLAYTON, a medical practitioner. In 1853, Benjamin CLAYTON sold "Baltinglass" to James WYSE. If anyone knows of any connections to the WOODHOUSE, CLAYTON or WYSE/WISE families, I would very much appreciate your assistance.
