Daughter of Samuel Coates timber worker/clerk in timber company and Susan GEDDINGS. Samuel arrived NZ Bay of Islands 1837 and worked in timber industry. Susan, brother & parents arrived Wellington on ship 'London' 1840. Father had a bakery in Lambton Quay Wellington. Susan & Samuel both from London UK, married 1846 Wellington NZ, had two children then moved to Kent St Sydney (had three more children) Samuel worked for Rankin & Batty timber company, then to Araluen.
