William and Mary VIDLER arrived in Sydney on the "Maitland" on November 5th, 1838 with five of their eight surviving children. The remaining three children (with families) followed separately over the next 3 years. After briefly living at Dapto, the family moved to the Curramore estate at Jamberoo in 1839, where they settled and remained for the rest of their life. Many descendants of William and Mary still live in the area bounded by Kiama - Berry-Kangaroo Valley. A one-name study is currently being conducted by Graham FIDLER of Cheshire,ENG with myself acting as the Australian co-ordinator. I have a vast amount of data on the Australian VIDLERs (somewhere over 20,000 recorded), and am always on the lookout for more.
