    2. JOHN BERRY
    3. Hi, can anyone help me with information regarding the above gentleman ? He was in the Shoalhaven from, as early as, September 1881 when he was engaged as a mining manager. He was know as "Captain" but this was not a military title but a term used by miners for a supervisor or shift manager. He remained involved in mining in the Shoalhaven until the late 1890's. There was a Captain W.H. Reynolds involved in mining in the Bathurst/Blayney district from the late 1890's, but I have been unable to establish whether this is the same man. Still looking for information on the McKane family of Jeralong, Shoalhaven River. Thanks to everyone for replies regarding SIVEWRIGHT: does anyone know when he came to Australia, residence, or occupation, pre 1871 ? Many thanks, John Berry. -- "YALWAL GOLD FIELD" - a brief introduction to this historic mining area. http://www.shoal.net.au/~lberry/index.html "SHOALHAVEN MINING" - the history and heritage of Yalwal and other mining sites in the Shoalhaven area. http://members.wbs.net/homepages/j/o/h/johnhearmeroar/JOHNHOME.htm
