William Bottom and wife Mary Ann Farris arrived in NSW in 1838 from England with their children Susannah Ireland , Mary Ann, William. Jane, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Sarah, Charles, Samuel and Joseph were all born in NSW William married Martha Nixon in 1858 in Holy Trinity Church, Berrima Elizabeth married Joseph Boardman in 1856 Berrima Charlotte married James Carr in Holy Trinity Church, Berrima Sara is my direct line and she married Peter Russell (Pierre Rossell born 1836 in Antwerp, Belgium) in 1860 in Church of Holy Trinity Berrima, Their daughter Sarah Jane Russell was born 1860 in Berrima, In 1878 she married James Williams in the house at Mount Hope, Cowra in 1878. James was born 1851 at Carcoar There is a story that one of the daughters in law was sick of the children being teased about their surname at school so one afternoon she bundled them in the horse and sulky and took them to town and changed the surname to Botham.
