Hi Deirdre When you scan photos into your computer there should be a selection for the resolution. This is usually described as DPI or dots per inch. 100dpi will give a resolution that is about the same size as the original picture on your computer screen. So when you try & enlarge it just gets grainy. If you select 300dpi you can enlarge it about 3 times the original & start to see more detail. So if you go to 400 - 600 dpi you can get some real detail of the individual people. Some people don't like to scan this big as it takes up more computer space & it takes longer to send & receive by email. But I would prefer the detail, then waste computer space with something that is hard to see detail :-) You will probably have to go to the advanced section of your scanners settings when you start to do this, but it is not difficult to enter. Hello Susie My Maternal Grandmother is a LOVELOCK :-) Yes I would love a copy of the pics please. Please in a high resolution, say 600dpi, so I can zoom in on individuals. I will do my best to identify them for you, but a few LOVELOCK's went to NZ. I do have contacts with a lot of LOVELOCK's here in Aust & NZ & back in UK. So between all of us we should get a handle on them. Do you have a AYLING & LOVELOCK connection ? After posting a notice for Oldfield Photo's I now find that they belong to the LOVELOCK Family. The Photo's are marked on the back as LOVELOCK Wedding - Queanbeyan 1958. ( Not Oldfield) Both these families are related to the AYLING Family, so if anyone would like copies of these can they please contact me. I would love to know who they are. I have a couple of photos taken at an "OLDFIELD Wedding in 1958 at Queanbeyan". If anyone is interested could they contact me because I would like to know who the wedding party is and I could also send a copy of these as well. Dear Betty, You may find a record on www.naa.gov.au if she did go back to England. Sincerely, Bill > Hi Bob, No sorry I don't have a death for Anastasia > Harris. I have ordered a death cert. for William
Hi Betty I have 1834 as birth for William and he was born at West Dapto NSW. I also have Elizabeth, his sister born 1828 Wollongong. Big gaps in births is maybe due to the fact Joseph was running around the country with Captain Charles STURT exploring. I have read several articles about Joseph and the 39th Regiment of Foot. Very little appears about Anastasia. I have not got exact location for William's birth but it would be a fair bet it would have been at Stream Hill Farm West Dapto where Joseph got his 100 acre grant in 1832. Good talking to you. Thanks for this Bill, Yes I have seen Walter's Probate Packet at the archives. He left his estate to two women, but non of the documents indicate their relationship to him. Just more clues and no answers. I live near the Kingswood archives and have spent a bit of time there. I didn't know about the railway cards though. I will check them out on my next visit. Good morning all, Is anyone on the list searching the name HENNESSY ? I have a Richard HENNESSY - supposedly son of 'Maurice' HENNESSY, who had land near Bungendore. On Barry Stephenson's Cemetery list there is a Richard HENNESSY buried in the Catholic Section of Bungendore Cemetery 'died 28th March 1893, son of Maurice Hennessy.' There are also burials for: Mary G. Hennessy, died 1919, daughter of Richard and Ann; Anne K. Hennessey, 7th March 1929, died at Bungendore, 74 years, daughter of Mary A. and Henry; I have found a marriage between Maurice HENNESSY married Mary CONNORS in Sydney in 1863. This may be Richard's parents. If anyone has HENNESSY connections or may know more of this family through local Bungendore / Queanbeyan history, I would really appreciate your assistance. Thanks Jen

Thanks for your help, I will try that. I know that when Gwen Dundon wrote her book on shipbuilding in Brisbane Water, she couldn't find any documented evidence that the Davis brothers were ever in Kiandra, even though the family was full of the stories that they made their stake there, so I'm not very hopeful.
