The Shoalhaven Telegraph, Friday, January 4, 1907 page 12 Death of Mr. W. C. BroWn [sic] The old saying that "In the midst of life we are in death" had a striking exemplification in the case of Mr. Waldron C. BROWN, of Plunkett-street, Nowra, who expired very suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The deceased gentleman was apparently in his usual state of health on New Year's Day, had been about as was his wont, and retired to rest about his usual hour. Between 1 and 2 o'clock in the morning Mrs. BROWN was awakened by hearing a guttural sound from her husband and thinking he was troubled with dreams asked him what was the matter. Receiving no reply she called her son James, who on entering the room found his father in a state of collapse. He at once sought medical aid, but on the arrival of Dr. HULL it was found that life was extinct. It is needless to say that the awfully sudden end was a great shock to the deceased's wife and family, as it was to the community, when it became known. The late Mr. BROWN was a native of Dorsetshire, England, but came to New South Wales with his father, the late Mr. Bernard BROWN, when only four years of age. They came to Shoalhaven at once, where Bernard BROWN acted for many years as chief constable, and later on as auctioneer, taking at the same time an active part in municipal and public affairs. Mr. W. C. BROWN spent the whole of his life in this district, being engaged largely in the timber industry, carrying on the sawmill on the Milton Road near Nowra with a large measure of success, until he disposed of the business a short time back to Mr. R. MISON. He also carried on for many years in Plunkett-street an undertaking business, and was also interested with his sons in farming pursuits. The deceased gentleman, who was 62 years of age, leaves a widow and seven children, who have the deepest sympathy of the whole community in their sad bereavement. The funeral was largely attended, the interment taking place at the Worrigee cemetery. Rev. R. INGLIS, M.A., officiated, and the Masonic burial service was also conducted at the grave.
Hi Col It seems that John may have died in 1850 in cathcart,NSW. I came across a Pedigreee Resource File on IGI CD #28 with this info. There is no matching record though in NSW BDM. However, there are many events not recorded in BDM so I shall have to look a little further. G'day Colin Thomas appeared in the 1841 census in Ventonleague Cornwall. He was a blacksmith. He married [1] 1830 Mary Brown who bore him Thomas 1833 John 1834 & Emily 1835.Thomas appears to have died in infancy. Mary also died early & he remarried Elizabeth Martin 28/9/1844 They had one son Thomas Aron [sic] 11/1/1847. Thomas with his second wife & 3 children migrated on the Julindu from Plymouth 28/12/1848 arriving Port Jackson 4/4/1849. The family settled at Cathcart near Bombala where he was a farmer at the time of his death 28/4/1882. Emily married into the Geraghty family who lived in the district. Thomas Aron married Catherine Mary Costello [ of unknown parentage] 4/11/1884 in Tumut where my wife's grandfather Thomas William Frederick Gilbert was born 9/9/1885. He bought a business in Young which is still in the family. John Gilbert was born in Phillack, 1834, as was Emily in 1835. What happened to John after arriving in Australia aged 15 I cannot establish. Hello Listers, I am endeavouring to trace the family tree of Thomas Gilbert born Illogan Cornwall 1806. I believe he may have been the son of Thomas & Marjory [ according to the manifest of the "Julindur" on which he sailed to Sydney in 1848/9 with his second wife and children John, Emily & Thomas Aron]. While I can trace Emily and Thomas Aron & their descendants, I can find no record of John after his arrival in Australia. If anyone has come across John Gilbert [ & he is not the bush-ranger !], or Thomas & Marjory, & is willing to share the information I would be very grateful. Bruce

Makenny/Makeny is a townland on the Tyrone/Fermanagh border, situated in the south/ west of the Parish of Kilskeery. No records have been found for my Moffat/Moffet/Moffit family in Makenny prior to the 1825 Tithe or for the Makenny Townland prior to this date. In 1879,an 80 year old John Moffit, was the last of eight family members to leave Makenny to immigrate to Australia. Two Moffit daughters and one Moffit son (of John and Mary (Irvine) Moffit) remained in Ireland or immigrated elsewhere. I would love to hear from descendants of other Makenny ancestors, especially from those whose families immigrated to Australia,to compare and share information about this townland. Thank you, Carole (Elliott.) Researching Moffit, Elliott and Nelson families and looking for information about this townland, from Lindsay, Somerville, Hetherington, Irvine/Irwin, Stewart and Walker families etc.from Makenny.
Hi Christine Thanks for your snippet, how times have changed. The estate is on John Darragh's old land grant Cheers Joanne

Dear Carole, While us family historians would love it on CD, I think privacy would rule that out very fast, for anthing where a person is still alive. Dear Carole, For about that long Electoral Rolla have been electronic, alphabetical, state by state, so as time rolls on it is going to be more difficult to find printed ones. The only printed ones I know of are the ones used at the elections, and they are only for that particular district, which means we go back to the old stystem of having to know which Electoral District, if a printed one is available. Sincerely, Bill > Hello All, > > Does any one have the Electoral roll above ,and can do a look up for me > please, thanks carole >

I am a descendant of John Buckley (b abt 1841, Cork Ireland) married Mary Kelleher (b abt 1842, Cork, Ireland). They married 1865, Kiama and moved to Mullumbimby where they both died. Mary's parents were John Kelleher and Mary Dennahey. John Buckley's aunts Hannah and Julia Buckley both married Kellehers. Hannah Buckley married William Kelleher in 1863, Shellharbour, and Julia married Denis Kelleher - date and place unknown. Note there is a variation in the spelling of Kelleher which may also be seen as Kellaher, Keleher, Keliher and others. Hannah may be seen as Johanna and Julia's formal name was Margaret Julia. I am trying to establish whether John Buckey's wife Mary Kelleher was related to William and Denis. Anyone with information on this family? >From Registry indexes, it seems likely that Denis died 1889 in Kiama, and William 1911 in Bowral. Hannah died 5/11/1867 in Kiama and Julia in abt Sep 1874, place unknown. Appreciate help from anyone with access to any burial or cemetery records. I can also be contacted at ozeannie@yahoo.com.au Thanks for looking
