    3. My apologies, and yes, Penny you are correct! This cemetery is not at Goulburn, it is in fact St Thomas' North Sydney. I am sure the IFHAA site will be amended shortly to reflect this. In any case there are a lot of names and detail which may be of use to some, especially as we now know where the transcripts are from! http://us.web.graffiti.net/~ifhaa/cemeteries/goulburn/a.htm Viv -- Vivienne Caldwell viv@zipworld.com.au Wollongong NSW http://www.zip.com.au/~viv AUS-NSW-SE Mailing List http://www.zip.com.au/~viv/aus-nsw-se.htm

    3. Looking for any information on an ALICE WOODCOCK who died at Picton on 13 July 1846, aged 77 years. Would particularly like to verify the accuracy of her age at death and discover if she had any living family at the time. Also what ship she arrived on? Alice lived in Sydney in 1834. Any help would be appreciated. Pat.

    3. I don't claim to be an expert on the Goulburn area, but having grown up there and done most of my research there, I have never come across a St Thomas' Cemetery in Goulburn. I can also find no reference to it in any of the reference books I have on Goulburn. The cemeteries there are: St Patrick's Cemetery St Saviour's Cemetery Goulburn General Cemetery Mortis Street Cemetery Jewish Cemetery I have had a look at some of the transcripts, and quite a few appear to have died on the North Shore of Sydney. I realise that it is quite common for people to die in one place and be buried in another town, but there just seem to be too many. Also a lot of the names do not appear to be Goulburn names. I am writing to the web site to clarify the location of the Cemetery, and will advise the result. 2. I am searching for information on a William Robinson, who went to Australia, possibly settling in the Hunt River Province area. He had brothers John, born 1793, Patrick and Tom, and a sister Mary (Ford). John Robinson married Lydia DeWitt in Mason Co., Virginia, U.S.A. (April 2, 1820). Hope there is a connection with someone!! Shirley --

    2. Anne Stafford
    3. Mary Davis was sentenced to 7 years transportation for stealing shoes. She arrived in Australia on the John Renwick in August 1838. In August 1839 she gave birth to a daughter Margaret at the Female Factory Parammatta. Mary was issued with a Ticket of Leave in October 1842 and allowed to remain in the district of Goulburn. In July 1845 Mary was issued with her Certificate of Freedom and in August 1845 she married Neal McGarrey at St. Saviours Goulburn. The next I know of her was when she gave permission for her daughter Margaret to marry Charles Smith in May 1854. Mary was a witness at the marriage and gave her name as Mary Geary. I have been unable to find any further trace of Mary Davis/McGarrey/Geary and any help would be appreciated. Cheers Anne Stafford astaffor@smart.net.au

    1. MACKEY, GLASS & FORBUTT- Braidwood area
    2. Cheryl
    3. Hi everyone, After Viv's message, I will come out of hiding. I have been watching messages for quite a while now, so it must be time for me to let the 200 members see MY family names. OK, they are MACKEY, GLASS and FORBUTT in the Braidwood Cooma area. James Mackey (b.1842) came from England (I think he swam) and at age 22 married a local girl, Mary Ann Glass,(b.1843 in Bredbo) They married in Whinstone Valley in 1865. They had 10 children, so with a bit of luck someone out there knows about them. The Forbutt's married into the Mackey family. Samuel Forbutt married Unity Mackey in 1898 in Braidwood. Samuel Forbutt's father was George Forbutt, his mother was Sarah Anne Boncer. I won't go into any more detail here but if any of this rings a bell with anyone please contact me..........please! Regards Cheryl Whamond
