Hi, There is an Alfred Robertson buried at Braidwood in site registered as No 45. He died on 10 Jan. 1915 aged 74 and was succeeded by his wife and children. The place named as Charlestown is now Charleston and is occupied by the Charleston Stud. It lies adjacent to Farringdon which is on the Shoalhaven River at the Farringdon Crossing. Bendora lies upstream of that and the Ginglemoney area lies SW of the town pumping station. Tom Stewart ca 1880 is probably the father or grandfather of my old neighbour who inherited his property at Toggranoggerah from his parents. His mother may have been a Dove but I am not sure. Tom Stewart is now dead these past few years. Tom was a gentleman. Mt Elrington lies to the SW of Farringdon which is where the convicts were housed in the old days of Braidwood. These areas are more or less at the foot of Majors Mtn. Hope this helps. Wade

Queanbeyan is in NSW and thus all residents are registered in NSW. The record you have will be of Queanbeyan. The certificate will identify his issue and other details. ----- Original Message ----- From: "sandra armstrong" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 2:42 PM Subject: John Joseph Wright > In my never ending quest to see this man buried ( b abt 1836-1840) I > have identified a lot that are not mine. In my never ending quest to see this man buried ( b abt 1836-1840) I have identified a lot that are not mine. However I have found a likely suspect ( yes another one) who died in 1904 in Queanbeyan. My question is where would I find some cemetery records to identify this man or exclude another victim. I know the ACT did not start recording bdms until 1930 so he is registered as dying in NSW 1904/14483. Help please? Sandra in a wet and soggy Maryborough Qld

Hi Everyone I am looking for information about the Batstone family and Darke family of Albury. John Batstone and Hannah Darke married in 1880. I have no idea when or how John arrived in Albury but he was born in Devon. I also dont know how long Hannah's family had been in the area. The family stories say that they owned a large department store in town and that Hannah's father may have been a counciller. John died in 1899 and Hannah remarried to a Timothy Horan. I believe that while John was alive they lived in a house called Mandalay and that when Hannah married Timothy they lived in a house called Naroh (HOran backwards) Hannah may have been a nurse. I would love to hear from anyone who may know something about either of these families. Also could anyone tell me if there are any directories for Albury for this time. Hi John, The answer to your question is to be found not in the haystack but in 3 books by Ian Nicholson "Log of Logs" Vols 1, 2 & funnily enough, 3. These are widely available at libraries and genealogy societies etc, or on interloan I should imagine. :-) Regards Pam An Aussie transplanted to Rotorua, NZ.
