Hello Listers I have just joined the list in the hope that someone out there is researching one of the names I have posted. They are all ancestors and started with Robert Anderson. One of his daughters Maria married William Graham in 1835. When William died she remarried Richard Glanville in 1850. I would like to trace some of her Glanville children. One of them called Victoria was alive in the 1980's age 90 and living at Berry St. Nowra. Some of her other children with William Graham married into the Hyam/Emery/Robertson families. Does anyone have any knowledge of the William Graham she married? Is he the one called "Terrible Billy"? I would be most grateful for any information Verna Bode
Hello Nicole. I strongly recommend you to get hold of most of the publications of the Bega Valley Genealogy Society Inc.; wherein you will find much information about WENT families. If you are not familiar with this group, their address is: P.O. Box 19, Pambula, NSW 2549. Last year they published their "Bega Valley Pioneer Register: Pre-Federation". Its index has 23 WENT references. Their "Index to Death Registers 1871-1918 Held at Bega Courthouse" has 11 WENT references. The index to their 4 volumes of "Monumental Inscriptions in the Bega Valley Shire", shows WENT burials at: Bega, Bermagui, Candelo, Cobargo, Pambula & Wolumla. Several of their other publications have some WENT entries as well. They also hold a master index by surname at their Society, from which you can pay vry reasonable amounts for them to make photocopies, and for their research time, to provide to you. In addition they publish a regular journal: "The Valley Genealogist". You may of course become a member of the Society. If I recall correctly, they also have a web-site. However I cannot find a reference to it in their publications. Nevertheless, a "google" etc. search, should find it for you. Good Luck, there is a mine of information there for you. Ray -- (whose mother's family seems to have lived in a lot of the same places as the WENTs, at: Wanatta, Candelo, Wolumla, Tantawanglo, Numbugga, Bega, etc.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicole" <[email protected]> Subject: Went Family: I am after any information on the Went family in the Bega Valley area. They moved around a bit and I have traces them to Bemagui, Moruya, and several other places but they are all in the Bega Valley. My grandfather, Allan Gordon Went was born in Tilba Tilba in 1920.

Hi, Does anyone by chance have a copy of William A Bayley's "Wollondilly Shire"-Picton and District? I have it on my list of inter-library loan books however I'd like to know if it has information on the building of St Mark's Church at Appin or the stonemason who built it, James Moore? Joy

Hi, I have an edited obituary notice from a south coast newspaper. I believe it may be from a Kiama newspaper, or perhaps Berry, if there was one. It is dated 17th February 1944. If anyone is able to assist in checking this out for me please contact me off list for further details, Many thanks Joy
Hi Cassie, Try this website, there was an Elsie M. Johnson who was cremated in 1969 and her ashes were placed in the Nowra Cemetery. She was 75 years old. http://www.public-cemeteries.net/shoalhaven/register_search.htm Regards, Alan
Cassie, Have you tried the Briths Deaths and Marriages website www.bdm.nsw.gov.au for index to Births and how to apply for a copy of the birth certificate ($22.50) or using the index to define the year, go to a NSW or other State/local Library that has bdm microfiche and print copy of pages for cost of copying (abou $1 but copy may be difficult to read and not as presentable but you could try this first before spending more money on copy from bdm website (if she was born in Australia). You can also visit their office at 191 Thomas St, Haymarket NSW 2000 or phone: 1300655236. If she was not born in Australi, check the NSW State Records website www.records.nsw.gov.au for Assisted and unassisted passengers on ships and search by surname and if there's a match it will show the person's name, ship name, age when travelled and if "with family" on same ship, year of travel to NSW, reel number of microfiche to check at NSW State Library in Sydney www.sl.nsw.gov.au or other library which may have a copy of the microfiche for you to see the whole record for that ship and pick out your person. The passenger list will tell you the name (+ any family that came too), where they came from, occupation, religion, parents' names and where they were from, if person could read/write, if any family already in colony of NSW. If she came into a port in another State other than NSW, there are links to some of these indexes as well. The NSW State records office is in Sydney CBD . You can also use bdm website death certificate application form and fax or mail it requesting this. You can get it even after 1945 when index stops as 30 years after a death this becomes public record and is available without proof of next of kin for a fee of $29. If you don't know the year you can ask for a 10 year range search for this price. The website shows births up to 1905 (before Privacy Act comes in) and marriages and deaths up to 1945. You can also obtain marriages after 1945 if the date was more than 50 years ago or if both parties are dead, then after 30 years by getting the application off the website and faxing or mailing this. You could probably send them an email attaching the application form and use credit card payment. Good luck. Noeleen, Sydney Australia. (new to list). Sorry about the lengthy reply but I thought all this relevant to give Cassie a good start. I am new to the list/any list and if this size reply is a no-no for such a list, please let me know so I don't do this again and annoy everyone. ----- Original Message ----- From: " Murray Calder" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 28, 2003 7:59 PM Subject: schoenfeld/johnson > Am researching one Elsie Johnson nee Schoenfeld.
