    1. DESCENDANTS OF FANNY AND PETER (NEILS PETER) ANDERSEN/ANDERSON
    2. Maureen
    3. Hi List, I have only just subscribed, I am looking for descendants of Neils Peter (Captain Peter Andersen) and his wife Fanny. I believe that their son Peter and two of his children settled somewhere near the Harden area. Peter and Anne Andersen had a daughter Kathleen (Kitty) who married a Holdsworth and Molly who never married. They also had sons Jim and Michael. If anybody is familiar with any of these names I would love to hear from them. I Have tried writing to hundreds of Andersen/Andersons, but with only minimal success. the bottom line is that somebody out there must know of these families and I am going to try all the lists in Australia to try and find them. If anybody has any ideas I would love to hear from them. Maureen

    1. Towamba, Rocky Hall & Wyndham Cemeteries
    2. KNABAT
    3. Hi All I am currently putting the above cemeteries on cd for sale (Photographed). I was wondering if anybody on this list has any connections to the above cemeteries and would like me to add their interests to the cd? Or if anyone has any burial details, photos on the area or any information they would like to share with me to add. I am going to try and get the burial records from the Bega Shire so that I can add all the unmarked graves as well. I know that the Bega Valley Genealogy Society has transcribed these cemeteries, but have not transcribe word for word. I am a member of the Society and will be donating a copy to them for their records and I hope to do more of the cemeteries in the area in the future. The reason that I am doing this was just for my tree originally but decided that I may as well photograph the whole cemetery and put it on cd for other people who cannot access the area. This is my 1st attempt so and hoping with everything crossed it works out. It will be index and fully searchable. At least when I have finished the headstones will be preserved. Thanks for reading this. Cheers Nardia Victoria, Australia [email protected]

    3. Sydney Streets, the latest exhibition from the City of Sydney's Archives and History Program, is now on-line. Sydney's streets tell something of our city's social history. Through their names, their alignments, their appearances and their disappearances, the streets of Sydney document and illustrate the city's evolution. The on-line exhibition Sydney Streets features over 100 historic photographs, maps, plans and documents from the City of Sydney Archives. There are fabulous photographs showing old streetscapes, views and vistas. Discover the origins of street names, lost laneways, woodblocked streets, the widening of Oxford Street in 1910, and much more. 3. The only convict marriage I can see is that between Charles CLARK and Ellen CONNELLY. This marriage took place in 1833. The only Mary CONNELLY marriage listed on the NSW register is to Peter WELSH in 1836. 1. COOKE family of Tumut
    2. Phil Young
    3. In case anyone else is researching the same family as I am, here is an outline of one of my main interests in the SE of NSW. Robert COOKE was born 1809 at Kiltinan Castle, Co. Tipperary in Ireland, and came to Australia in 1836 with a letter of introduction from the Duke of Wellington. He bought the property "Petfield" close to Tumut and operated a cattle business there for many years. He married Mary Anne ROBINSON (1821-1908) who had come to Australia from Co. Tyrone, Ireland, in 1839 with her methodist preacher father. They had 5 children, John Robert COOKE (1852-1931) who married Isabella HANNAH), James COOKE (1853-1940), Anna Mary COOKE (1855-1938) who married Charles Neason STEPHENS (1841-1896), Hessie Jane Gustava COOKE (1858-1902) who married Charles Henry SMITH (1849-1917), and Edward Gustavus SMITH (1861-1907). Other related families include the VYNER and DOWNING families of Tumut. I have considerable information on this large family, including many old photos, which I'm happy to share. 3. Hi Fellow Listers I have been looking at the infamous "Clarke Gang" from our part of the bush. I haven't been able to establish exactly who was Thomas & John's father. He is variously mentioned as John, Jack & Old CLARKE ! I would like to know if he was a convict ? Where was he tried ? What was his crime ? When was he transported & arrived etc, etc ? "Old" CLARKE's marriage to Mary CONNELL in 1839, is this proven ? It seems to me that, CLARKE before his marriage is in doubt ? And what is recorded after the marriage seems to be fact ? Please any good help is very welcomed. I have the book "The Bloodiest Bushrangers" by John O'Sullivan, 1973. And "West Limerick Families Abroard" by Kate Press & Valerie Thompson, 2001. Kind Regards Col

    2. Pam Dowling
    3. Is there anyone on this list living in Yass who might be willing to help me track down a relative & fellow researcher living in Yass who I've lost contact with, please? I had a phone number for her which doesn't work now and I can't find a number online for her name/address. I'm wondering if she may have moved, or gone into a home, or even died in the interim since I last heard anything - at Christmas 2000. If anyone can help by doing a bit of detective work for me, please reply privately? Many thanks Pam An Aussie transplanted to Rotorua, NZ.

    1. NEW TO LIST: GWYNN/NILON
    2. Suzanne Francis
    3. Hello all, I have just started on another branch of the family and discovered that both families spent time in the Shoalhaven area early in the piece. They are the GWYNN/E family, who arrived as assisted immigrants on the Kate in 1855 and the NILON family (arrival unknown as yet) The GWYNN/Es arrived with 4 children then had a child in Sydney in 1857 and then at least one other in Shoalhaven in 1862. The NILON family had at least 7 children including 2 born in Shoalhaven and members were still around BOLONG according to Greville's 1872. I have found a Bolong Road but can anyone tell me if there is/was a town or locality by this name? The parents later moved to Cootamundra with some of the children. Parts of both families ended up in the Northern Rivers area and the families were linked by marriage at least twice. Suzanne Suzanne Francis [email protected]

    1. St. Matthew's, The Oaks
    2. N & C. Collison
    3. Hello, I am interested in hearing from anyone whose family may have had some connection with the little historic slab church, St. Matthew's Church of England, The Oaks, NSW. If anyone has any little family anecdotes, connected with St. Matthew's, I would be delighted to hear from them. I have gleaned parish registers for early baptisms and marriages but they only state that the marriage/baptism took place in either the parish of Stonequarry (which encompassed Picton and surroundings villages including The Oaks) or parish of Narellan (which included Camden, Narellan, Cobbitty, The Oaks etc.) If anyone with an interest in The Oaks area can verify if any particular baptisms/marriages took place at St. Matthew's (called Oaks chapel in early records), I would love to hear from you. Kind regards, Cynthia Collison
