I am trying to get a copy of "From Mary Wade to Us: a Family History, 1778-1986". This is the history of Mary Wade, a convict sent to Australia when she was about 10 & she lived in the Illawarra area. A couple of the families included are Brookers & Harrigans. If anyone can tell me where I can get this book I would be very grateful Thank you Cheryl Clarke

Fellow genealogists, Have you ever used the Internet to learn about genealogy methods and resources? Taken a genealogy course online? Read some 'how to' articles? Then I would like to hear from you. I am an Australian Ph.D. student who is currently writing a book chapter for an academic Virtual Learning Environment publication - my chapter is about using the Internet for genealogical education. I would therefore love to hear from you, fellow genealogists, about any Internet-based content you've used for genealogy education. This includes online courses (free or fee), how-to's, articles/columns, newsgroups, BBS, chat, mailing lists, forums, or even personal web pages that publish learning material - anything online that helps you in learning the craft of genealogy. Your comments on the following is of utmost interest: What are your favourite learning outlets on the Internet? How often do you use them? Can or did you find what you needed online? What are your learning successes? What could be better? What do you look for in genealogical learning on the Internet? If you would like to participate, your comments are extremely welcome. Please send your comments to me directly at [email protected] before Saturday 1st May 2004. I thank you in advance for your participation in this academic research. Kylie Veale P.S. Names and email addresses will be protected and are therefore not included in the publication. Copies of the paper will be made available to interested participants on request, after the book has been published. ----------------------------------------------- Kylie J. Hello, Are there any Memorial Inscriptions for cemeteries in Jamberoo? I'm trying to determine what became of one REBECCA MATILDA MOORE b. 1849, who lived with her parents James and Maria MOORE at Range Farm, Jamberoo in 1856. Rebecca was listed as 7 years of age when her father died at Jamberoo in 1856. I can find nothing more on this family member. Thanks Joy
My interests are centred on the Summerell family for whom a reunion is being planned in Queanbeyan on Easter Saturday 2006. Charles and Mary Summerell had several children some of whom settled in SE NSW. Sometimes Summerrell or Summerill are used. There are too many names for one email so I'll start with the families of George Summerell 1819 - 1878 who married Ann Roach 1835 - 1876 Children and associated surnames. Sometimes the surname is only that of the spouse of one of the first generation or so. 1. Jane (Ginny) 1854 - 1945 Dunn, Ford, Johnson, Wrightson, Boardman, Berkery, Jackson, Stone, Henry,O'Brien 2. Mary 1855 - 1925 Parkes, Ralphs, Dunn, Brennan, Blom 3.Anne Alice 1857 - 1908 Cameron, Warner, Martin, Douch, Harrington, McCave, Campbell, Langhorn 4. John 1959 - 1883 5. Catherine ( Katie) 1862 - 1903 Morrison, Mudie, McKenzie, Shepherd, Jones, Marks, Duffy, Deeney, Hawkins, Kearns 6. Elizabeth (Bessie) 1864 - 1941 Stratton, Gradon 7. Ellen (Nellie) 1866 - 1942 Deeney, Shepherd, Stokes, Rose, Porter, Falconer, Hall, Murphy, Carter 8. Bridget 1867 - 1867 9. George 1869 - 1958 Johnson, Cotterill, White, Douch 10. William 1871 - ? Hawkins 11. Bridget Caroline (Carrie) 1874 - 1941 Carman, Morrison, Lewis While all the first born generation were Delegate Nimmitabel, Bombala based the families are well scattered now. Rob, The Eden Monumental Inscriptions doesn't have any matching entry that I could see.Interestingly among the headstones at Eden was a "William Alexander GREIG, died 27 June 1980, aged 93 years 6 months. Last of the Eden Whalers." Section A row 5 grave 19 In section E row 6 grave 247 is " James C Davidson, husband and father, died 21 November 1985, aged 87 years. The last of the Whalers." Perhaps a google search looking for whaling at Eden might throw up some interesting information. I had another look after writing the above using the spelling GREGG Sect A row 1 grave 5: "Captain William J Gregg, out of Port Jackson, died at sea latitude 25.55.0, longitude 153.14.0, 25 August 1851, aged 28 years; also Margaret Helen Davidson, his wife, died at Kiah 12 June 1852, aged 22 years; also Elsy Jane, their infant daughter, aged 3 months & 20 days." While the headstone says out of Port Jackson, the compass bearings suggests somewhere near the bottom of Fraser Island.Tin Can Bay is 25.55. and 153.00. Double Island Point is 25.57. and 153.11 Was William chasing whales in Hervey Bay? I wonder how long it took for news of her husband's death to reach Margaret in Kiah/Eden. I am looking for descendants of Thomas Jones b1861 & d1925 at Delegate & Mary Harvey b1865. They had 2 daughters, Ivy b1894, m1916 (reg Cooma) George FT Davis & Myrtle b1898, m1916 (reg Bombala) John C Wolfe b1893. Myrtle possibly had at least 2 daughters. Ivy possibly lived in Dennison St Cooma. Nothing more is known of the family or what happened to them. Thomas Jones was a Blacksmith & the son of Edward Jones & Catherine Swaley who arrived in Australia in 1852. My Great Grandfather was Edward Swaley Jones, a brother to Thomas. If anyone knows anything about this family or what happened to them I would love to hear from you. Thank you to anyone who can help. Robyn Jones Melbourne
