    3. Hi Bob You may find the following of interest: ITEM "The Shoalhaven Telegraph" Wednesday May 11, 1932 The first patient conveyed to private hospital by the new Nowra motor ambulance was the late Mrs R. Oke.[Agnes M. Oke (nee Piggott)] "The Shoalhaven Telegraph" Wednesday May 18, 1932 RETURN THANKS Mr Raymond Oke and members of his family wishes to Return Thanks to Dr Ryan, Matron and Staff of the Shoalhaven Private Hospital; also all relatives and friends and especially Mr & Mrs Ernie Baxter of Bridge Rd for their kindness and sympathy during their recent sad bereavement. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Obituary MRS JEAN OKE Many people in Nowra, were saddened recently, when they heard of the passing of Jean, wife of Clifford "Ray" Oke, of Padstow and formerly Nowra. Jean Oke was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Bob Buchan, who came to Nowra about fifty years ago. Her father was a car salesman, being the agent for an Australian made motor car called the Summit. Following her marriage to Ray Oke she and her husband were in business together, until disposing of their interests, they acquired a home in Junction St, Nowra. Jean Oke was a dressmaker of noted skill and while her husband was employed in the Advanx Tyre Company, she was equally as busy looking after her home, and family and at the same time sewing for a large number of clients. Soon after the fire that destroyed the original Advanx building Jean together with her husband and family moved from Nowra into the suburb of Padstow near Sydney. The change from Nowra did not mean that she would be taking life a little easier for it was not long before Jean Oke was employed in a large shopping complex, in charge of frock and coat alterations. She had as many as seven people under her direction. With two of her three children grown up and a teenage daughter, Jean was at a stage in life when she could afford to enjoy all that she and her husband had striven for. Unfortunately this was not to be and on 11th February at the early age of 56 years, Jean Oke's earthly labours were at an end. Though no longer with us, her three children Carol, Alan & Roslyn carry with them the influence garnered from a loving mother and a bereaved husband has treasured memories of a loyal, loving wife and help mate. Sympathy is extended to Ray and all her family including her brothers and sister Nancy (Mrs Fred Wiley, of Meroo) The funeral took place at the Rookwood Crematorium on 14th February.
