One Hundred Years ago One Hundred Years Ago February-1903 From Merriwa and Cassilis Standard Newspaper Weather Speculation for 1903 From J Harcourt Giddons MSA, Astronomical meteorologist from Commonwealth Weather Chart. The year 1903 will probably be one of the wettest known in the annals of Australia .The first two months of the year will be very unsettled, with considerable rain in Northern, but little in Southern Australia. About the middle of March there will be a general break up of the drought, and a wet winter will follow. Floods will occur early in April. Spring rains will be sufficient. Considerable rain is probable about the middle of November and the latter part of December. Residents on river banks, specially warned of April floods. If the disturbance is very intense, which at probably will be after so long a drought, the rains may commence several days earlier than stated in forecast.
