HOTELS IN NYNGAN IN 1920 1930'S :::::::::::::::: 1.Barretts Hotel built 1884 burnt down 2002 built by Tom Barrett . 2.Carriers Arm Hotel built 1892 owned by John Nelson 3.Commercial Hotel built and owned by Larry GALVIN 4.Travellers Rest Hotel owned by Bob Paton then Bob went to Orange because of wife dying and never came back he gave the pub to J.Bonworth . 5.Tattersalls Hotel built and owned by Tom Rowe 6.Royal Hotel owned by Jim Dunn it was in Nyngan St & Ford St it changed hands to George Buist . 7.Court House Hotel Nelson Procter owner . 8.Imperial Hotel owned by Mr Nelson became Mrs Simpsons it was Demolished 1960 . 9 .Overlander built 1960 . 10 .Australian Hotel built 1904 owned by Mrs Mittleton . 11.Great Western Railway Hotel owned by Mr Antill . now there are only 3 hotels here Cannonbar Hotel , Overlander Hotel and the Aussie Hotel . in answer to Penny's message From: "Penny" <pjmg2@primus.com.au> Subject: Hotels in the Nyngan area Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2001 13:23:32 +1100 Hi all, I posted a message thinking I was looking for a needle in a haystack, and managed to hit pay dirt, so I'm hoping that my luck is holding out :-) I have been told that my Gt grandmother's sister at one time owned a hotel in the Nyngan area. This would probably have been around the 1920/30's. Her surname would probably have been Fitzpatrick, and her first name may have been Margaret. I'm aware that Galvins owned two of the hotels in Nyngan in the '30's, but am wondering how many hotels there actually were/are, and if anyone may have any reference to one being owned by a Fitzpatrick.
