    3. Help needed to locate a fellow Pilliga list member "John" who is placed a interest on the Pilliga Surname list for Ryans of Narrabri. I sent a email to him and it has bounced. So Ive decided to place the query directly with the list The connection that Iam looking for concerns the Ryans originally from Nundle near Tamworth, moving to Narrabri about 1900 - 1910, when family contact was lost. William Ryan jnr born 20/3/1852 aboard the 'Sir George Seymour' was the son of William Ryan snr & his second wife Mary nee Bourke. William jnr married 1875 at Tamworth to Caroline Jane Cole (b 1857 Patrick Plains) Their children all born at Nundle were:- Mary RYAN (1876 - ), Ellen RYAN (1879 - ), Alice RYAN (1881 - ), Caroline RYAN (1883 - ) Amelia RYAN (1886 -) Any help appreciated Maureen C

    1. Where to go from here??

    3. Hi Listers Can someone give me some suggestion as to where to go from here. I'm looking for a death date of Robert Graham/Grahams. He married under the surname of Robert MacGuigan in South Australia in 1850 but had change it to Robert Graham by 1864. Robert Graham and his wife Esther lived in Wagga, Cowra, Tallawang and the Gulgong areas between the 1860's -1880's and one of their daughters - Margaret - died at Slapdash Creek Gulgong in 1886. Robert Graham was the informant on her death certificate so he must of died sometime between then -1886 -and when his wife remarried a Michael Kane in 1908. There are to many Robert Graham's on the BDM to work out which is the right one ( I've already made a boo-boo). There is one Robert MacGuigan but he died at Kempsey. His wife, Esther Kane died at Cudgegong 12/3/1914 and is buried in the R/C section in Mudgee Cemetery. The informant on her certificate is her daughter-in-law Florrie Graham from Bumbaldry. Now after all that, has anyone any ideas how I can find out when Robert died. I've put out a few listings on the Mailing Lists but none of his relos must be into Family History . Any help or ideas appreciated Regards Victoria

    3. Hello Everyone I have just subscribed to your mailing list in hope of finding out some info on two of my husbands ancestors which at the moment have me stumped. A big thank you to any one who can help. Firstly I'm looking for the death details of Thomas Farley/Farrelly he was born (1819) in Londonderry Ireland.Sent here as a convict (1840) on board the Middlesex. Married Mary Goff/Gough (1849) and settled around the Mudgee / Gulgong area. Mary died in 1898 near Cassilis. Also any info on his son Michael would be appreciated as this is the line my husband comes from. The other children known to me included Thomas Edward Patrick William and Rose. Secondly death details on Robert Graham who I'm presuming was born in Ireland (1823) and came here via South Australia seemingly under the name of MacGuigan. Married Esther Garrett (1850). They made their way to the Mudgee / Gulgong area via Wagga Wagga and on the way changed his name to Graham. It seems Robert Graham died sometime between 1886-1908. Esther Graham re-married in 1908 to Michael Kane she died 1914 at the Waterworks Cudgegong Municipality ( can someone tell me where that was). They also had a daughter who died 10 years old at Slap Dash Creek Gulgong, can someone tell me where that is. The other children known to me are Robert Mary Emily Alice Ellen and Elizabeth. Their daughter Ellen went on to marry Michael Farley ....... I have more info on both families if needed in order to make a connection. I look forward to hearing from ANYBODY. 1. RE: History of Boggabri
    2. Ross and Marilyn
    3. Hi Pamela, There is a booklet called "Boggabri -the story of our town" 1957 with the latest reprint 1995. I purchased a copy ($10) during a visit to Boggabri in 2001 . Ellen EATHER of 112 Walter Street, Boggabri is involved with the Local history of Boggabri and I am sure she could send you a copy if you wrote to her. There is another booklet about the public school -"Boggabri Public School - Centenary of Education 1873-1973" Looking through the Boggabri book , there is mention of the Sacred Heart Convent School "The present fine new school buildings were opened on Feb 7th 1965 by the Rt. Reverend E.J. DOODY Bishop of Armidale. Father J. MARON being Parish priest. Architect for the school was J.P.GANNON and builders, E. MORAN Pty. Ltd." In the section 'CHURCHES' -"In 1910, St. Joseph's convent was built and the Sisters of St. Joseph took up residence in 1911. The wooden church now did service as as a church-school. Boggabri was visited twice weekly from Gunnedah by Father WALSH, Father KEANE or Father MCDERMOTT." At first glance I can see no other mention of the Catholic school but will have a closer look. There is no index. There is a school photo in the Public school book 2nd and 3rd grades 1939 "M.MCGINNITY". This name also appears on the photo of 3rd and 4th grades 1937. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance Marilyn PS. Boggabri Cemetery transcriptions http://www.angelfire.com/pa5/baker1865/Host%20Site%20-%20BDM/boggabri_burial s.htm

I have a vague recollection that there is a local historical society. Could someone give me contact details if this is the case? Thanks, Pam Studd Researching: STUDD, FRASER, MCGINNITY, BRADSHAW

    2. Annette Piper
    3. Ooops! In my last message I said I will transcribe the Western Post to December 1862 - sorry, I actually meant to December 1861 (thus the 'sixth months to go' statement, since we are up to July 1861). About 4 months or so ago I posted a lot of information - mainly lists of names (land leases, subscription lists, land purchases, etc) that were from the Western Post & Mudgee Newspaper from 1862 to 1864. These were posted mainly to the NSW list as were more statewide in nature. If you didn't receive them then a search of the NSW list archives could be worthwhile. Perhaps at a later date I will have time to transcribe 1862-4 more thoroughly but it won't be immediately. Sorry to disappoint you all. :-( Annette Piper Coolah NSW
