    1. Happy Birthday Betsy! - Elizabeth PRINCE m. William Thomas MITCHELL 1871
    2. Moya Morris
    3. Hello list members 150 years ago today my great grandmother Dorothea Prinz (Betsy) was born on board the Triton from Hamburg. Three weeks later the family Valentin & Helena Prinz and their three children, baby Betsy and two older children Friedrieke aged 9 (later known as Rachel and m. John Horne) and Carl (Charles Prince) aged 4, landed at Sydney Cove. Three more daughters were born at Maitland, Margaret (Maggie m. James Fletcher), Mary (Mary Ann m. Peter Hindmarsh), and Mary Ann (Annie m. Thomas Fletcher). When Betsy was 8 her father died and is buried at Glen Quinn, Narrabri. Later the family moved to Wee Waa. At 17 years she married William Thomas MITCHELL an Irishman from Kingstown near Dublin Ireland. By this time she was known as Elizabeth Prince. The couple had 10 children. 2. A C Erickson
    3. Hullo list - hope you are all well and happy. Does anyone have anything about the bridge over the Yaminbah Creek about 20km east of Coonabarabran on Oxlwy Hwy en route to Gunnedah? Our group has been asked to do some research about the bridge and surrounds - picnics, swimming, activities, etc. I understand the documentary research has been done now need social aspects. A contact says there was a Yaminbah Progress Association - does anyone have any knowledge about that or anyone in it? Another contact said there was gold found about 200 yards down from where bridge is now - does anyone know anything about that? Otherwise any snippets of info about the bridge, people etc would be welcome. TIA, Alice.

    1. Descendents of George Stewart and Mary Anne Irwin
    2. James Desmond Skelly
    3. I am endeavouring to track down some living descendents of George Stewart and Mary Anne Irwin. Their daughter, Mary Anne Stewart, is my wife's grandmother. Mary Anne married Thomas George Charter. According to my research at the Qld State Library the following are the brothers of Mary Anne Stewart:- Edward Walter Stewart born April 13, 1875. George Gilchrist Stewart born August 18, 1877. James Thompson Stewart born April 30, 1880. Charles Martin Stewart born September 15, 1882. Donald Andrew Stewart born October 24, 1884. My wife has some memory of an Uncle Donald being mentioned. Unfortunately to my wife's chagrin I have not been able to trace a birth record of her grandmother, Mary Anne Stewart. The family always celebrated January 28 as her grandmother's birthday. I understand that her headstone at Moree Cemetery says she was born on January 28, 1867, at Roma, Qld. However the marriage certificate of Mary Anne Stewart and Thomas George Charter on April 8, 1891 states that the permission of both fathers was obtained as both bride and groom were under 21 years. Her birth year of 1867 must be incorrect as this would make her age 24 at the time of the marriage. Thanks to the help of a lady Jenny Wellington on the Net came up with a birth of an unnamed female on April 1, 1873, with parents George Stewart and Anne Irwin the same parents of Mary Anne and her brothers. The interesting thing about this birth certificate is that it stated that previous issue living at the time of the birth of the unnamed female was one "Mary Anne ages 2 years". This must be my wife's grandmother. This seems to be the only record of her birth. For some reason her birth does not seem to be officially recorded. If there are any listers who have connections to the above Stewarts my wife June would love to hear from them. Des Skelly Moorooka, Brisbane.

    3. Tracing for a friend ,looking for information on the names SENNETT. PATTON. My mother Lillian Sennett b. 1906-7 Bathurst area, she stated on my birth cert, Mother Wilma Patton. Father James Sennett, occupation unknown. Cannot find any cert, at all ,no marriage for Wilma and James, no births or deaths. Nothing on my mother either, no birth, her marriage to my father, 22May 1937 in Tamworth NSW is not registered. I have been to the court house and enquired. Checked all the churches, especially the Catholic. Had the BDMS check page by page for all marriages in the area. Checked all the other sources, newspaper etc. . My mother lived and worked in Manly NSW in the 30s and then went to Quirindi where she met and married my father. From then on she is well documented and on the elect. roll from 1939 till her death in same town in 1948. Its just her background I cant find or her parents. Hope some one can help her, thanks Carole

    3. One Hundred Years ago One Hundred Years Ago February-1903 From Merriwa and Cassilis Standard Newspaper Weather Speculation for 1903 From J Harcourt Giddons MSA, Astronomical meteorologist from Commonwealth Weather Chart. The year 1903 will probably be one of the wettest known in the annals of Australia .The first two months of the year will be very unsettled, with considerable rain in Northern, but little in Southern Australia. About the middle of March there will be a general break up of the drought, and a wet winter will follow. Floods will occur early in April. Spring rains will be sufficient. Considerable rain is probable about the middle of November and the latter part of December. Residents on river banks, specially warned of April floods. If the disturbance is very intense, which at probably will be after so long a drought, the rains may commence several days earlier than stated in forecast.
