Hi all In my quest for the details of the Penrith and district soldiers, I came across a section on the Australian War Memorial site called: Australian Red Cross Society Wounded and Missing Enquiry Bureau Files. These contain statements from other soldiers who witnessed the casualty/death or were contacted about it. Often they give details such as location and the battalion's activities at the time of the soldier's death. Not all WW1 soldiers who died have Aust Red Cross records. Here is the link if you want to check it out. It is listed under the Biographical area on the War memorial's databases http://www.awm.gov.au/database/1drl428.asp Best wishes Jan
