Thanks Marlene, I will download Legacy. I've also got some others, but haven't used any enough to become proficient. I didn't know about www.abcgenealogy.com so I will try it to look up Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone et al. I did know the other two (convict group and Vinegar Hill). I took a drive out to "Vinegar Hill", where the memorial is, which is a modern cemetery ... and it is very easy to find as there is a big signpost at it saying it is a memorial project work, on the road to Windsor from Castle Hill. I didn't know if it would be hard to locate or not, but you can't miss it. I think there is some debate about the true spot of the encounter, but the memorial is presumably placed at the more favoured possibility, and it is certainly more than a bit of a hill, with a fair view from it.
