    3. Hi Sue Re Q 1, have a look at the following web site. http://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/info/ldfhs.htm Re Q 2, Even today there are Parish Registers, but generally speaking there is no single repository. The location of registers tends to depend on the religion eg RC, Methodist, C 0f E etc. For example most NSW Methodist registers are in the NSW State Library. Usually the best place to start is to ask the local FH Society or the particular church if still in existence. Re Q 3 look at http://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/info/services.htm and http://www.biztel.com.au/stlukes.htm Re Q 4 Legal adoption started in NSW in 1923. Before then most "adoptions" were just arranged between families, possibly through a church. Sometimes a "contract" was drawn up by a solicitor and the papers could still be with the solicitor's firm if passed on each time the firm was sold. On occasions a deed was registered at the NSW Deeds Office in Sydney (in the Land Titles Office). But this would be the exception. See site http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/ What information is on the adopted son's marriage (if married) and death certificates. cheers Grahame on 4/11/03 4:11 PM, Sue Adamson at mosessue@tpg.com.au wrote: > Dear List, > > l have recently received a death certificate for John BAINES who died at > Warwick Farm Nr.
