I am researching a drowning that occurred in 1896 at the Butter Factory Dam, Littlefields, Mulgoa. I have found what looks like a dam on the Littlefields River in today's street directory, also a small piece in the book Mulgoa, Mulgoa about the Irrigation Company using the river, but I have as yet to find anything about a Butter Factory. Perhaps this referred to a dairy on the property though the word Factory makes me think it was a larger concern. If I can locate the Factory then I'd be sure I have the correct location of the drowning. Many thanks for any suggestions Sue

Have you searched the old newspaper "Nepean Times" for details of the death - some details from it might give a better clue? If you can give me the date of the death and name of the person, I go to Penrith library Tuesdays and will have a quick look in that newspaper for you.
