    3. Hi Listers, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have an ancestor who may have married their widowed stepmother in the 1860s. There is no record of the marriage taking place and I wanted to know if it was lawful at the time. They also moved out of the area to a place where they were not known. I know that widowed men could marry their wife's sister but widowed women could not marry their husband's brother and I thought this case could also be one of those laws. Kristine Wood

    3. Hi Jan, Well done on your efforts transcribing these names and putting them online. Just taking a look at the Penrith Roll of Honour (http://www.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/history/war/memorials/penhonroll.htm), I am curious about one of the nurses, a M KELLETT. Any idea who this is? I have searched the AIF Nominal Roll and the only KELLETT nurse I can find is Adelaide Maud KELLETT. There was a M KELLETT who recieved and honour/award (refer to AWM site): KELLETT, M, Sister, AANS (Australian Army Nursing Service), Mention in Dispatches. Is this this the Penrith M KELLETT I wonder? 3. Hello Lloyd, I read your message to Jan with great interest and would like to ask "how do you descend in the SKEEN family"? I am a COLLITS descendent, and have searched all branch lines from Pierce and Mary Collits, including their daughter Amelia Collits who married John Skeen. I have most of the descendents recorded up to "1918 birth and 1945 marriages and deaths"! Like you I have searched the WW-1 and WW-11 records, looking for extra details. I would like to add your name and family into my records, so look forward to your reply. Rain is wide spread at present, but it skirting around us here in East Gippsland Vic again and we need it so desperately, not just to re-assure us "it can still rain", but the bush fires are getting closer and no rain is falling on them either. Ask Lorraine Stacker at Penrith Library about it, as the Library has a site for WW1 veterans. Is it (The Honour Roll) available for me to have a look at. Also there is a page somewhere at the War Memorial site that gives the names of all WW1 Diggers (as well as a new one for WW2), this may also help you as a lot of the old families have left the town or have dies out.
