    2. Max Munro
    3. Hi all. Would anyone on the list have heard anything of Ned Sinclair since he went into hospital some time back. My inquiries have come to a dead end and I had a computer virus recently that destroyed all my addresses and other important info on OE. Would be most pleased to hear from any person who has any info. Max Munro Please visit my website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~maxco12

    3. Hi Pat Thanks so much! That certainly sounds like my Wedesweiler's. I know Johan Jnr and his brothers Jacob and Francis were in the Camden area when they were adults. Jacob & Francis were buiders and built the St Johns Anglican Parish Hall at Camden among other things. I would love it if you could for some more info. Someone has sent me a "plan" of where they lived but it is really hard to see. I bet this is the place! Could you please tell me where I might be able to get a copy of the map? Thanks HEAPS!!!!! The Wedesweiler family were indeed living in Mulgoa Forest/Silverdale area, on an adjacent block to my great-grandfather William John Gibson. In fact, I have a photo of the Gibson family, animals-and-drays-"team", (they were timbermen), with the drays loaded with Wedesweiler family goods on the day theywere moving from Silverdale. Since some of my Gibson family from that area are still alive, I could perhaps ask them when that was and maybe if they knew where they went to. An early map I have shows Joseph Wedesweiler's land as 43 acres, with Silverdale Road through the Eastern side of it. It is not very far from Silverdale Public School - that land was donated/sold by the Gibson family around 1890. Pat Curry Mulgoa Forest was re-named Silverdale about 1890, supposedly because a resident Lloyd Williams, wrote to the government asking for the name to be changed to Silverdale, after a similar area in England. I have also heard that that story is not true. -----Original Message----- From: Karen Mulvey [mailto:karen@spreadtheword.com.au] Sent: Friday, 14 May 2004 4:22 PM To: AUS-NSW-PENRITH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-NSW-PENRITH] WEDESWEILER Hi I am trying to track down where Johann Joseph Wedesweiler lived. He arrived in 1855 from Germany. All his younger children were born in the Mulgoa Forest area. I think he may have lived in Silverdale in the late 1880's - 1900. 3. Hi Karen The Cenus and Musters for 1822, 1823/4/&5 and 1828 will have info too. These are at most libraries, you will find the area they lived in the 1828, who else lived with them, their occupation, how many acres under cultivation and the animals they had. Also worth looking in the FAQ's (scroll down the home page a bit) on the claim a convict site for other avenues of research http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/index.html Good luck > Hi there > > Thanks for the info! > > -----Original Message----- > From: Ron and Joanne Flack [mailto:bell.bird@bigpond.com] > Sent: Wednesday, 12 May 2004 10:19 AM > To: AUS-NSW-PENRITH-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Fw: [AUS-NSW-PENRITH] Thomas Shadlow > > > > > Hello Karen > > You could try: > > Information on the following people and families is located in the > Local Studies Collection at Penrith City library - Shadlow family > 1800 Pioneers of the District at > http://www.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/history/biographies/S.htm > > Also, some has claimed him on "Claim a Convict" so try emailing > lgeorgeadis@idx.com.au > > His son Thomas (George) married Rachael Lees and Ron's > g.g.grandmother Ann > Bolton > married Rachael's brother John Lees. 3. Hi I am looking for any info on my GGG Grandfather Thomas Shadlow born about 1801 married to Louisa ( Lucy) Randall 1823 at Castlereagh NSW. I would like to get some info on his convict background as well as his life after he arrived in NSW. Any help would be very much appreciated Thanks in advance Karen

    3. A further reply to the above request, but maybe not quite enough. I decided to have a brief look in the Nepean Times of 1890, which has a description of Littlefields Orchard and Butter Factory. The factory was on 14 acres of fenced land at Mulgoa - the orchard was 1/4 mile from the factory. There were two large dams. There is a full description of the factory buildings. The orchard was right in the centre of Mulgoa Village, with the Public School, Post Office, blacksmith etc. on one side of it, and on the other side and surrounding it were houses. 25 Jan 1890 PC5. It was not officially named Littlefields Butter Factory until 17/9/1892 P4 C3. Unfortunately I did not find out whose land it was built on - however, its construction seems to have been instigated by A W Stephen, and it seems they planned it as a co-operative, intending to sell shares in it. It was an interesting bit of history to look at - there is probably more information to be found. I have found what looks like a dam on the Littlefields River in today's street directory, also a small piece in the book Mulgoa, Mulgoa about the Irrigation Company using the river, but I have as yet to find anything about a Butter Factory. Perhaps this referred to a dairy on the property though the word Factory makes me think it was a larger concern. If I can locate the Factory then I'd be sure I have the correct location of the drowning. 3. Have you searched the old newspaper "Nepean Times" for details of the death - some details from it might give a better clue? If you can give me the date of the death and name of the person, I go to Penrith library Tuesdays and will have a quick look in that newspaper for you.
