    1. [AUSTRALIA_NSW_ORANGE_DISTRICT]Forbes family 1851
    2. Sharon Borg
    3. Hello, I noticed a post on roots web and it is related to a family I am researching Forbes. Information on a William Forbes who married Agnes Kemp. They had 7 children and I am connected to Sarah Forbes born 1851 in Kelso. She married a Charles Anthony in 1866 and after his death married a William McIntosh in Walgett/Goodooga/Brewarrina. I have been told that Sarah was the first white woman to be in Brewarrina but I would like to clarify this. Wondering if there was anyone who knew anything relating to this family since this is the area many were born in and William was given a grant for land in 1854. He died in 1866. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you Sharon Borg https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/aus-nsw-orange-district.rootsweb.com/thread/31532704/

    1. [AUSTRALIA_NSW_ORANGE_DISTRICT]Notice that this list is about to close.
    2. Peter Lakeman
    3. Hello members of the AUS-NSW-ORANGE-DISTRICT mailing list, currently hosted on Rootsweb/Ancestry servers. My name is Peter and I have been the list administrator of this list since it was abandoned. I have no idea when it was abandoned nor who the previous admin was. On 7th January 2020, Rootsweb informed all list admins that they will not be providing any mailing list services after 2nd March 2020, except to keep the archives available (see RW email appended below). In other words, all lists will cease to be. If members want to keep this list active, they will need to host it on a new server. A number of such servers exist, such as groups.io, FaceBook, google groups. I personally do not wish to remain the admin of this list, so one of the members will need to step up as a new administrator if they want to keep this list alive. As a side comment, I think that many of the smaller lists were created on a person's whim in Rootsweb's heyday, and are probably past reviving. I can't remember when the last post to this list was. If there are any questions, please post them to the list, but do it quickly as time is running out quickly. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails.  Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    3. I'm sorry I can't help with Mullion Creek but if you phone or email the Orange Library someone there will be able to help with your request. Good luck with the search, Patricia I left Orange 1 Oct 1954, having spent time in the UPA'S Buena Vista Boy's Home. What I am now curious about is that I used to visit a family in Mullion Creek and from what I remember of Mullion Creek is, that I used to travel out by Train, the Platform being on the Left hand side and I think Opposite were some shops and I used to walk a short distance to the right of the Platform along the road which ran alongside the Railway line? The house visited was on the left hand side and was only a few houses along? I cannot now recall the family involved. I would be interested to find if I am correct and the family involved if at all possible? 3. Many of my family came from the country and I found an enormous amount of information about them by reading obituaries in the local paper on the trove . In the case of the Davis Family I tried typing in Davis Orange and Obituary and came up with quite a few obituaries for Davis *Molong Express and Western District Advertiser (NSW : 1887 - 1954)* was quite useful https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=davis+orange+obituary+&exactPhrase=&anyWords=&notWords=&requestHandler=&dateFrom=&dateTo=&sortby= On Thu, Jun 21, 2018 at 2:56 PM, Jo Kelly <[email protected]> wrote: > Western Herald (Bourke, NSW : 1887 - 1970), Friday 25 January 1963, page 12 > ------------------------------ > > Death of Ebenezer Bourke Davis > > When Mr. Ebenezer Bourke Davis died in Sydney last Friday the Darling > country lost one of its great pioneers. > > His was a long and intimate association with the great area of Bourke and > beyond. 3. Dear Susan, James & Bridget's wedding as shown in Peter's message has the "early church code" --- "LG" LG means: Roman Catholic Bathurst; Kelso; St Michael's, Co. Bathurst Depending upon the strength of both James and Bridget's attachment to Ireland then it is just possible that James may have been buried as O'Neil or O'Neile Thus Bridget, it seems, was buried as an O'Neil: O'NEIL BRIDGET 6768/1916 (QUINN) 9O YRS ROCKDALE ROCKDALE Thus some possibles for James' death might be .............. O'NEIL JAMES 7299/1887 PATRICK BRIDGET A PARRAMATTA Unavailable O'NEIL JAMES 8821/1889 AGE 109 YEARS DIED PARRAMATTA PARRAMATTA Unavailable O'NEIL JAMES 12334/1891 UNKNOWN UNKNOWN PARRAMATTA Unavailable O'NEIL JAMES 9357/1893 UNKNOWN UNKNOWN MOLONG I would personally favour this one: O'NEIL, JAMES A 14585/1903 father: JAMES mother: ANN registration district: MARRICKVILLE (Note: Marrickville District rego office and Arncliffe (Rockdale rego office) are adjoining suburbs separated only by the Cooks River Hope these ideas are worth considering. A very heartfelt thank you. I saw tonight where you have also relaunched the Penrith list The DAVIS family keeps cropping up in my wife’s family tree. Some descendants of John Davis and Eleanor Hawkins crop up her BAKER family who were in Mudgee and Orange. Others come up in the WOOD family that are part of her Jane Ison tree and include names such as Cross and Bryant from the early Hawkesbury settlers but settled in cities such as Eugowra, Cargo and Cudal. Lawson Davis married Alvina Gavin with Alvina being a descendant of Isaac Cornwell as is my wife. Is there anyone out there who has tried to unravel the various DAVIS families particularly in the Central West? I might even find how a couple of Davis people who did their high schooling in Orange at the same time as did ( 1958 – 1963 could be related to my wife who has never lived further west than Sydney. Some important names amongst my wife’s connections to the Davis tree are CAIN, HOWEL and LEWIS. Regards David Central Coast NSW

    2. Sharon Jameson
    3. Hi all I am trying to find when the above John Rowe came to Australia. His wife Ann Rowe (nee McDonald) is buried in Orange cemetery, she died 1876. If I have the right John Rowe he is buried at O'Connell RC church O'Connell and died 1869, the headstone states he was 58-59 so born C1811. From 1840 he is living in the Hartley/Bowenfels are. His marriage states he is from Cooerwull (I believe this is Bowelfels). Ann McDonald was from Hartley, her father was Duncan McDonald buried Lowther cemetery. If anyone has any connections with this family I would love to hear from you. Sharon Orange
