St Mary's Anglican Church in Ballina has in its possession a heavy white linen cloth which has been embroidered in white with six hundred names and/or initials. The names are on squares (5.5x5.5 inches), a name on each side and 1 in the middle. The cloth measures approx 70x86 inches. The square have been hemstiched in froups of four and joined together. The cloth appears to be handmade. It is not known for what purpose the cloth was made. BUT we would like to be able to find out. Though there is a lot of initials, just maybe someone will recognise a name and the purpose of the cloth. One of the names has the date 9.9.09.
