Hello Listmembers I have just received a marriage certificate from NSW BDM for the marriage in Grafton on 24 January 1863 of Abraham STANLEY and Elizabeth BROCK. The ceremony was conducted by William FIDLER according to the rites of the Wesleyan Church. It states "the consent of Rosanna ROBINSON of Grafton, mother of the bride was given to the marriage of Elizabeth Brock with Abraham Stanley - the said Elizabeth Brock being under the age of twenty one years". Other than that, the certificate gives no information - their birthplaces unknown, the groom's parents unknown, the bride's father unknown. Even the ages of the bride and groom unknown. Interestingly all the "unknowns" have been then crossed out. It looks as though the certificate could have been completed some time after the ceremony, except for the witness signatures, Richard PAYNE and Sarah PAYNE (her mark). Has anyone discovered a Rosanna ROBINSON in their searches and is anything known about the officiating minister William FIDLER? Any suggestions at all would be very much appreciated.
