There was a A.E.D Long who was very prominent in the first decades of this century in public life in Coffs Harbour (racecourse, Park Beach Recreation Reserve, Hospital Committee & Show Society etc). He was alive in 1917 but deceased before late 1928. His firm Bull & Long started as general commission agents in 1907. After about 1917 it was soley carried on by A.E.D. His photo as a member of the 1914 Coffs Show Committee appears on page 114 of "Coffs Harbour: pre-1880 to 1945" by Neil T.M. Yeates (Coffs Harbour City Council & the author, 1990). Yeates gave as a source reference re A.E.D.' business "Guide to Dorrigo Shire 1917" by T. W. Comyns !!. I had a quick look in online NSW BDM's but failed to find his death, the nearest being an Albert R. Long in the first part 1928 ??? Charlie Long appears on page 182 in a 1921 photo of students in the Coffs super-primary class. He is listed in the 1938 Post Office Commercial Directory as a painter. In same there is a W. Long listed as a carpenter. The WW I Roll of Honour for the Coffs Harbour district lists a D.J. Long and a W.A. Long. John Brisbane GENEALOGY HOMEPAGE: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jray
