Hello listers, I am a new subscriber and I'm researching my gg grandfather Duncan McDERMOTT who lived in the Bangalow district in the early 1900s. Duncan was born in Kiama in 1851 and made the move up north sometime after his wife Susan (nee Stokes) died in 1897. In 1902 Duncan married the widow Elizabeth Ryan (nee O'Brien) at Bangalow. Elizabeth's husband Thomas Ryan died at Bangalow in 1900, leaving her with seven children to raise. Duncan McDermott died at his property at Coorabell in 1915 and is buried at the Bangalow Cemetery. I would very much like to locate an obituary or any mention of Duncan's death in the local newspaper of the day. Would this be the Northern Star and has it been indexed? Best wishes, Terri.
