    3. Hi everyone, Hoping that someone on the list might be able to help me with my HUGHES family. I'm trying to establish whether the following RICHARD HUGHES is my Richard Hughes: I have a Mrs Connie NIND, who's father was Richard HUGHES. Richard HUGHES & his 3 sons, built the Star Court Picture Theatre in Alstonville NSW, which opened in 1915. Mrs Nind attended the first and last screenings at the Star Court, the last being in 1980. The HUGHES family also built the following: Lismore Base Hospital T & G Building the former National Bank in Woodlark St (Lismore?) The Ryan & Royal Hotels Methodist Church in Ballina Hotel Grand in Coolangatta St Andrew's Church - built additions to the church in 1913 I don't know who this Richard HUGHES was married to, or his birth/death date. Does anyone have any history on the above buildings that mentions the Hughes family? It's possible that this Richard Hughes is a descendant of our family. What we do know about our Richard HUGHES: Richard was born in Kildare, Ireland in 1822 and he sailed to Tasmania (year?) and in March 1843 sailed from Tasmania to Sydney aboard 'The Water Lily'. In October 1843, Richard HUGHES married Eliza Silke EVANS. They had 13 children and also settled in the Richmond River area of NSW. Associated family names: SJOSTROM - HORSEMAN - SHARPE - EXTON - TOWNER - TICEHUSRT - SOMMERVILLE - CUMMING - WRIGHT - SAVILLE - SCHOFIELD - ROBERTS - PARSONS - CAMERON - HOOPER - TRIMBLE - HILL - RODGERS. Would love to hear from anyone researching these names. Kind regards, Sherrie Blackman. Sydney.
