First newspaper in the area was founded at Fernmount near Bellingen by Joseph Mackay in 1886 - see the Bellingen GenWeb at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/papers.html Much later there were papers such as the Bowraville Guardian etc. in the Numbucca/Bowraville area. From memory I think they are available at the University of New England Library. You might contact the Nambucca Valley Historical Society whose address is not listed amongst the Hisorical Societies at the GenWeb site but is at: http://www.communityonline.com.au/htmfile/history.htm where you will note there is also a Museum at Bowraville.
